FYI, Lou Dawson and Andrew MacLean are revising the old S rating system for judging the difficulty of a slope.
It is a great effort, and should result in more standardized and detailed ratings in the various backcountry or sidecountry guide books.
Unfortunately, in my opinoin, I think it is harder to memorize and not very easy to see at a glance what the slope is like.
In that regard, I was hoping that those of you that care might have a loook at the new system and vote whether you like it better than the old system.
(note: a vote for the old system does not mean that it will not be improved, just that it is more intuitive and should be the basis for a revised system).
