    Kryptonite bike lock exchange program

This is sorta old news, but I just got around to doing it. Search function reveals it came up on the boards awhile ago, but nobody mentioned the free lock exchange program being extended to all locks, so--

If you have a Kryptonite bike lock that uses tubular keys, you can trade it in for a new one that uses the new-style keys (semi-flat), for free -- they cover shipping costs both ways. Initially Kryptonite only offered this to recently-purchased locks, but at some point they extended it to cover any tubular keyed lock they've ever sold. All you need is the lock & at least 1 of the keys; fill out a form online, then they email you a UPS call tag in a few weeks. I shipped my lock back about 2 weeks ago, and my new one arrived today.

Details & registry form at www.kryptonite.com.

I tried for a good hour and a half to pen my lock... didn't work. Maybe I'll send mine back in the winter anyway just in case.

I also tried to pen my lock, and a couple friends that penned their locks successfully couldn't get mine open- maybe mine's an anomaly (i.e. one that works, tee hee.)
This touchy-feely Kumbaya shit has got to go.

Didn't know they opened the exchange program to all locks. I've got two paperweights here that I'll swap for new ones. Cheers to you, my goatsucking friend.

It also covers a lot of locks that Kryptonite made for other brands, most commonly Avenir. Check the website list even if yours is a different brand!

It's amazing that they cover every lock ever made. I got an exchange on an original Kryptonite-4 that I bought to lock up my Schwinn 10-speed when I was a kid. It was on the list.

Man, that's gotta hurt the bottom line: exchanging every product you've ever sold over the last 20 years. Although in the unlikely event that I need more heavy-duty locks, I'll most certainly be paying the extra $5 for a Krypto, because I know they stand behind their product.
