The thing is, these teams both have a shitload of talent on them, but they play within the coach's system, unlike some of the expansion teams. I'd way rather watch the Oilers/Canucks/Lightning etc. play.

They're boring to watch, but you can't argue with the # of times they've won the last 10 years.
Yep, seen this before. Crazy liquor & cheeseburger party got out of control.

which is the best argument for tweaking the rules.
coaches/players are always gonna do what wins.
but I agree with one point above, calling the games tighter would help

I'm damn happy it's back. If they have to give away tickets maybe that city should have to give away it's team. I will watch my HNC every Saturday night this winter. I hope you sooutherners get some kind of TV contract set up but it's probably best for you to watch the CBC.

    Go Oilers!!
Move along nothing to see here.

I totally agree with you. NJ and Detroit were the best at what they did, and they probably would have won playing any system. Detroit could even be fun to watch, as they tended to play the lock as opposed to a full nuetral zone trap, which still allows for offense, even if it is one-sided offense. The devils were the most boring of the good teams to watch, however.

Hockey is such a beuatiful sport when played properly. The NHL product is all dump, clutch, grab, and hack.
Unfortunately a lot of this is correct.OTH ,Hockey is the least BS pro sport out there.Olympic & WC hockey are more exciting for sure because of the different rules & specifications. If they combined the best of the NHL with them it would be awesome & much more popular.

I for one am so happy that they settled the lockout. You wouldn't believe the number of folks that have asked me, "when are they going to play hockey again....."

I'm glad that hockey is back, and to be honest I am glad that reaching the agreement took as long as it did - I think it will help level the playing field for the smaller market teams.

It's going to be an exciting 6 weeks leading up to training camp with the draft, the free agent signings etc....lots of teams will look very different from 2003 - 04.

As someone that works in TV. Some network will want this contract because the Hockey audience has the most upscale demos of any major sport.

Someone who hasn't had the pleasure of getting up at 4AM and 5AM every Saturday and Sunday from October to April to go play the best team sport there is wouldn't understand why this is the case. But then again someone like that wouldn't understand the sublties of the game either and understand why the NHL playoffs are so exciting to the people who did get up those Saturday and Sunday mornings for a large part of there life.
