Cool Mark your calendar for the Avalanche Jam

OK, Colorado Maggots, its time to mark your calendars. Call and email your fellow Maggots and let them know about the Avalanche Jam! This is "the party of the year," for the Colorado backcountry skiing/boarding community. You do not want to miss this one...... Are you listening Shera?

The forth annual Avalanche Jam, hosted by Backcoutry Access (BCA) will take place from 5 to 10 pm on Friday, September 16 outside the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, Colorado. The Avalanche Jam is a fundraiser for the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC).

This year's headlining band, Damage Done , is a popular Colorado rock band that features musicians from local outdoor retailer Neptune Mountaineering. In addition to the music, the event will include dinner by Trappeda's Gourmet Cafe, beer from New Belgium Brewery, an outdoor industry demo village, a silent auction and door prizes. Donors to the silent auction include BCA, A-Basin, Arc'teryx, Marmot, Patagonia, MSR and Black Diamond -- and the list is growing daily.

Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. They can be purchased in advance at your local front range outdoor retailer or by calling BCA at 303.417-1345.

We want a big turn out of Maggots this year. Buy your tickets early! This year Shera you better show-up!

    Cheers,
    Halsted Morris

Calendar marked! Always a good time and a great way to support CAIC and those who put the hard work into making our experiences safer. Looking forward to it.

Well, if you insist. And I heard there was a tent full of free beer.

    Should I wear patchouli?

How does this silent auction thing work anyway? I've never done it. Didn't Dave get a Loveland pass there for cheap a couple of years ago?

    SheRa,

    "Patchouli" dress is not required.

As for the silent auction, you put your bid on the auction sheet, and as the evening goes by you check your bid and see if you want to raise your bid. When the bidding closes, the last bid is the winning bid (and that's how much the "winner" has to pay). Sometimes people have come off with really good deals. And all the money for the item goes to the CAIC, since who ever donated the item did so for free.

    See you there.....

    Cheers,
    Halsted
PS: Cash, checks and credit cards are excepted at the silent auction. But, only cash or checks at the entry gates. You'll save $5, if you order your tickets in advance.....

I will entertain the thought of going, but I am not a socialite, so I won't actually go.

Ok, we're getting closer to the Avalanche Jam. You can check out the CAIC website for more information on buying tickets. http://geosurvey.state.co.us/avalanche

I have a question for the TGR Maggots. Would you like us to put up a "Maggots Meeting Spot," sign? It would make it a lot easier for everyone to meet up. What do you think of that idea?

The meeting sign might be kind of difficult since not everyone will arrive at the same time. I know most who are going, so it might better for newbies.
