Yeah... We did not look into that direction with an rv in the bedretto.

Sorry, I don't know what went wrong there... Swimming pool

Notes on the layout, broadcasting responses to PM questions:

venduls' place , mt-lodge sedrun, is 300 feet down a gentle hill from a train stop at Rueras which is in between trainstop Dieni to the West which takes about 3 minutes and trainstop Acla di Fontauna to the East which is about a 10 minute train ride from Rueras, stopping in Sedrun along the way.

At each of these places you can access lifts. Sedrun is dinky, but will change, hopefully before March, see below.

Acla di Fontauna is where one gets out to walk 10 minutes to the base tram of Disentis. Disentis is huDge by itself with 3 different, mostly south facing valleys to ski. It is out of the picture to the right (East) below.

At Dieni, one can access the start of a series of lifts that end on one side of Andermatt called Natschen. There are 3 summits before one even gets to Natschen/Grossboden, one at the top of the Dieni complex, a second Dieni summit and another at the top of the new gondola from the Oberalppass to Schneehuenerstock (just to the left of the black cow face on yellow icon below). From the Schneeheunerstock, one can ski to the base of Natschen.

From the base at Natschen, which is right across the street from the train station, one can take a little shuttle bus 5 minutes across town to the Gemsstock tram which is where the really good skiing is at Andermatt. The shuttle runs every 15 minutes from the train station.

Bottom line is that it's all connected by trains which run every hour 7:30-18:30 (corrected). Before the big development, we used to get out and ski from the Oberalp Pass.

explicit link to the above: https://cdn.snowplaza.nl/content/Win...2500/11588.jpg

Between Rueras trainstop and Acla di Fontauna is the Sedrun trainstop. If construction is on schedule, one will be able to take a cable car from Sedrun up into Disentis. This will make the entire section from Natschen to Disentis skiable.

Some of these stops are by request only, like Rueras and Acla di Fontauna. All stops are announced in 4 languages, so it's easy to figure out where one is. There is a stop request button by the doors that one has to push whe the next desired request only stop is announced. It's easy.

One could ride the train from Rueras all the way to Andermatt too, it's about 40 minutes.

The trains there are like subways in some regards that run about every hour; they are incredibly on time, so not like subways in that regard. But really, the trains are easy, easy, easy.

For those who are trying to read Busters helpful beta and cross reference it with the map -- Disentis is not on the map. It is right (East) of the maps extent.

Which begs they question: is Disentis included on the same ski pass or is it a seperate pass?

    EDIT:
    Andermatt-Sedrun is one ticket: https://skiarena.ticketcorner.ch/resort/93
Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis is another ticket: https://asd.ticketcorner.ch/resort/901 . A three day ticket maxes out at 159CHF, and is as low as 89CHF in the BBI timeframe.

When the mags figure out how the area connects—terrain, lifts and trains—their heads will explode. Will be interesting to see what the within two or three year return rates are.
This place sounds like an absolute gem. Good for you guys for going here on what, for many, will be a first ski trip to Europe.

It has been on a separate pass and evidently the townships are still squabbling about distributing costs and profits once it's linked up.

The discontinuity (not differentiable too) was at Sedrun before, but a new lift is being worked on that will have a base in Sedrun and a topstation on a ridge above Disentis called Salins-Cungieri-Cuolm da Vi . That is supposed to be finished by March, so maybe by then they'll resolve the squabbles and have lift ticket for all. This will make it skiable from Disentis to Natschen.

I can't imagine trying to ski from the top lifts at Disentis to Andermatt in the same day. I guess it could be done....

I hope this answers questions. If you have others, feel free to ask.

For better viewing, click the link to the above map and on the lower right you'll see Dieni, Rueras and Sedrun. One can also see the Tgoms tram which might be a good tour objective.

Beyond the skiing, I'm pretty stoked for this:

    https://www.skiarena.ch/de/skiarena/.../apres-ski-zug

    Apres Train.

Free travel with ski pass, but " There is a consumption obligation." I can handle that.

Only downside is the last train leaves Andermatt at 1:30.

It’s ski area nerdery, but I’d be interested in hearing about the distributions if you ever learn of them. It’s the way lots of euro areas have already gone, and lots of premier US resorts are going. Fascinating revenue sharing.

I’m sure glad Buster is well informed and that Vendul’s a mag we can support, utilize, and kick back with at the Lodge. The pool news and recent snow makes me stoked! Not having to stress and dig into all the specifics is really making the lead-up enjoyable. Appreciate you guys

This is interesting. Even with local guiding, I am able to to be so much more efficient with my logistics and really milk out the best the conditions offer after a handful of days in the same place when skiing in the Alps. Then, when I go somewhere new, I'm totally mind blown with what is in front of my face and could care less about what my lack of knowledge may be causing me too miss.

I have a vision of Buster holding court is the back corner of some dingy bistro as the after dinner genepi makes is rounds with frothing skiing approaching asking questions of all types about tomorrow. I simultaneously have thoughts about just how uncomfortable and painful Buster may find this.

One ride to the top of the Gemsstock and it's all pretty obvious; the Point is sufficient. I'm just hoping we get a good pow freshening.

There's a couple pockets that are a little more obscure and hopefully my buddy Brian will show . He has skied the Gemsstock a lot and knows how to get into and out of the trickier couloirs.

Besides, I don't know if they have genepi in Rueras. ;-)

Yep -- last train. My understanding is the Apres train is a different thing but along the same track?

And FYI -- there are trains from Zurich airport as late as 7:15pm that arrive in Rueras that day.

    +1
For me, it's the reverse of FOMO. I'm just in awe of how much great lift serve there is in one valley, and ten I start to slowly chisel away at a hit list. The best part of any trip, of course, is getting a tricky line in good conditions. But even if things aren't in, or the snow is bad, or the avy danger is too high, it's fun exploring what you can, and dialing in new areas. Best to be at Lift A by 8:30 so you can be on first bin to Station B so you can traverse to Couloir C before the sun hits it...
It's also fun, as you note, to arrive at a new place and be confronted with a massive amount of terrain and lifts and have to piece it together from scratch.

I guess friday I'll take my first turns of the season... and hopefully this is going to be a coming back season for me, after five years of no skiing!!! I just realized now: five years without skiing... I thought nothing could keep me back from skiing for so long... never say never

It has been a combination of injuries and work addictions that brought me up to about 120kg... and from there it's a long long recovery
