Tongue Stung - Advice?

Riding my mountain bike, took a yellow jacket in my mouth and got stung on the side of my tongue before I could get the asshole out. Swelling on the side where stung. I took 3 benadryls and am using chipped ice. Anything else you dentists can suggest? Would be appreciated.

Seriously, OUCH! Vibes to you. Maybe ambosol (sp?) or a dab of ground clove at the site to numb it a bit?

Oh, it's already numb. It actually didn't hurt too bad but swelled pretty quickly. Seems like the benadryl is kicking in a little but still pretty swollen. Little bastard, anyway. On a positive, I did manage to crush him on the way out.

Ice cold beer....

21st bday...while day drinking, swallowed a bee and stung me in throat......just kept drinking cold beer to keep swelling down was really my only option?

an ominous beginning to a “long” night....

Not a dentist, didn't stay at a Holiday Inn. I would suggest you keep your mouth shut when hauling ass or peddling hard out in the elements. My aunt had that happen when she was a teenager. My mom still gives her crap about it calling her big mouth that flaps in the breeze.

Seriously though, benidryl is probably all you can do at this point, maybe a little baking soda while it was still fresh. If you were going to die from it likely would have already happened..

Seems to be reducing in swelling. Also, now it's starting to hurt. This will be fun for a couple of days!

^^ Thanks. The tongue is doing fine but the swelling went into my salivary glands. It's not cutting off the airway or anything like that but I've got a pretty bad-ass looking turkey neck going right now. And no, no pics will be posted.

Damn! Did you crash? One of the worst crashes I've ever had was when a yellowjacket got me right in the jugular as I was riding fast through a downhill rocky section. Hand came up to my neck as a reaction, hit a rock and immediately ate shit over the bars.

I’ve had them fly under my sunglasses and sting me near the eye and had them fly into my helmet and sting me on the hairline.

Hurts like hell and swells but will likely go down unless your really allergic.
