Don't ask-don't tell is still illegal riding and if subject to fines a good portion of those fines could go toward building/maintaining legal trails. It is hypocritical to fight and call for fines against e-bikes while breaking the law.
A good number of d-bags around here ride rouge trails weekly while calling for the heads of the people who build them.
If you want to fight for one rule, you can't ignore the others to suit your needs.

    I'm not ok with that.

Think the land mangers are happy about illegal trails being built on there land and your riding them even if there don't ask don't tell?

Your state has basically banned them already, so whats your issue? Cause someone might ride one on a trail that's closed to them? I see motorcycle tracks on trails around here sometimes should we ban the sell of motocycles?

Your riding your bike on trails that have been illegally built without the land managers permission. Guess what that's exactly one of the arguments mountain bike haters use that try and close down trails in areas. Your no better than an ebiker poaching a trail.

I never said they should be banned from being made or sold I said they should be banned from non motorized trails because they have motors.

I dont hate them, even but I hate douchey lazy losers trying to pass them off as regular bikes. They arent.

you guys need to take a deep breath and think for a little bit. mtngirl is not being the bitch in this thread, but there are about 5-6 old men in this thread who clearly are. Lighten up. She doesn't want e-bikes on trails that don't allow them OH MY GOD.

The reality is that the majority of advocacy groups are going to embrace them within 3-5 years. As e-bikes become more available on this side of the Atlantic more riders will want them. If the current advocacy groups don't include e-bikes they will lose current members and fail to enroll the new ones. And we know the leaders love those cushy full time salary/part time work positions.

I can tell you that the perspective of Canadian trail advocates is very different from what you just put forward

    It's true.

Pretend to Pedal bikes are eMopeds, not motorcycles. Pretend to Pedal eMopeds still have a motor and cannot legally be ridden on trails that are sanctioned non-motorized.

The whole premise behind allowing mountain bikes is that they are human powered. Allow motors and lose everything.

If the land manger is ok with it do you still have a problem with them?

That’s all I’m saying let the land managers decide, advocate with them for or against.

Sounds like your state has already decided for now

I think they should be banned on non motorized single track by default and could be allowed in some areas if land managers feel they fit there.

I do not want them categorized as pedal mountain bikes.

Human powered machines, not motor assisted. There is a distinction and it's not that tough to differentiate. Trying to mix the two is obfuscation at its finest.

Thanksgiving. Sometimes you can, sometimes you can’t, or the upper trails have snow and ice, so you can’t do any longer loops, but thats when we start getting the skis going.

Well, in the case of USFS or state parks, that would be our land. If the pioneers and miners and animals could just build trails without all the red tape, why not us on our land? Of course, it would be tough (for me, maybe not others) to bitch about emotorbikes on those trails. But that's why those trails are hidden, so they can be enjoyed for a little while until someone puts it up on instagram or strava or whatever the hip kids use nowadays.

Absolutely not. That’s a dirt bike and should be ridden along side other dirt bIkes. It’d be a fun toy if you have the ORV trails for it.

He just rode past and stopped to chat, no jeans....basketball shorts. Dog is almost indescribably stoked after beach running at ebike speed with grampa. Everything looked in order, I don't think there are any pending charges.

Of course, it's inevitable that if everyone doesn't do things exactly the way you do them, they'll surely die awful, painful, humiliating, expensive deaths because everyone who doesn't follow your exact lead is a reckless moron....so I'm gathering my funeral clothes now preemptively. I'm thinking of starting a gofundme for some real classy loafers for the coming event.

I suddenly have a strange urge to buy an Ebike, ride it all the way to Bellingham, and shred every trail on Galbraith and live stream it to TGR.

yeah but it ain't got a gasoline motor so one could argue its not really a motorcycle, that its just somewhere on the continuum of the electric motorized bicycle

    which should be allowed anywhere?
