eBike just went by up hill. Peddling like I do when I'm dreaming.
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.
SMH looks like another page should have this puzzle solved. Does iceman rip on an e bike in jeans.........and no helmet?

Have you seen a one armed man around here?
I've only seen one in Utah = no helmet either.
This guy gets around!
I haven't been out on mtb trails a lot this year so all sightings have been in and around town. I have an acquaintance who is really enjoying riding all the old dirtbike/atv trails the local mtb people took over in the last 20 years....so he's out there.
Jeans and no helmet probably, shit eating grin, not stopping to hear lamentations from granola mafiosos.
Dont you think it might be a different demographic that would ride an emountain bike on trails versus an ebike around town?
Pretty different, dontcha think?
I sure hope insurance companies aren't lumping emtnbikes with regular with all this lack of helmet use.
Hope your buddy is loaded. The average daily cost for TBI rehabilitation in a hospital is $8,000. Residential rehab centers charge TBI patients between $850 and $2,500 per day. Even non-residential rehabilitation services can reach as high as $1,000 per day. Medical costs average more than $450,000 for patients who die from TBI.
I think that is a fine use of those trails and his time.I have an acquaintance who is really enjoying riding all the old dirtbike/atv trails the local mtb people took over in the last 20 years.
2 ebikers just went by. No helmets, ........no Lycra.
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.
One thing this thread is missing is the importance of classification, which b-bear brought up like 15 pages ago. I honestly have no problem with class 1 - pedal assist only - on most single track trails. Except for the whole excuse of using them to ban all bikes of course. So saying this in a theoretical sense vs. the reality we live in. But I do think those things being able to go up a two-way trail that quickly is potentially hazardous - typically the downhill bike is going fast but the uphill bike (or hiker) is going slow enough that the reaction time of the downhiller is fast enough to be relatively safe. But a bike going pretty quickly uphill could close that safety gap. But who knows, maybe not?
The last ebiker I saw was a slightly overweight man in jeans and no helmet. Must be a trend?
This happens all the time with dirt bikes and mountains bikes and how often do you hear of this being a problem?
Best story related to this happened to me on Truman one time. Some guy going way too fast on the downhill as i was puttering up comes around a corner and sees me, locks them up and goes over the bars into the bushes. I stop to look at the carnage and here comes his buddy who does the same thing and flies over the bars narrowly missing his buddy in the bushes. They're probably e-bikers now.

The increased speed will also increase congestion, big time.
Even if someone is safe and polite and believes everyone has an equal right to be there, getting passed or having to pass people a lot kinda sucks.
You have to slow or stop, step off the trail, maybe unclip. And you see another human. Your solitude is broken if you're into that.
The wider range of speeds, the more the impact. The fastest and the slowest are impacting everyone/being impacted by everyone.
The slowest often wants to ban mountain bikes and the fastest has a motor.
See the problem?
When everyone goes basically the same speed they dont see each other that often.
That's why galby can have the parking lot over flowing and cars lining every nearby street and still feel uncrowded.
Hikers feel differently about it.
Bike should be in soon. Selling my d3 carbon, a1 and any kits I have. Acid wash and affliction t with the k swiss’ is workin titties. Putting the sale money into software to give the new whip some braaap! Out teh way
Guy on a bike just went by. Not an ebike and was wearing a helmet. A sweet looking young lady jogged past right after he passed by.
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.
I've been gone for a day. Fill me in, has anyone convinced anyone else to change sides on the matter?
