Right on. And on a wild. They get great reviews. I keep kind of circling back to the new wild. It is tempting. A def option i think

EMTB+ definitely has more punch than the old EMTB mode. Turning on the 100nm torque and 750w power boost is also very noticeable. Surprisingly though when I did a full battery ride (8% left) with the EMTB+ & the boosted power settings, I only got maybe 150-200' less vert than I have gotten running the old Turbo profile. I would have thought the range loss would have been considerably more.

I think the bosch system is very refined.
I wonder how that new specialized motor is. Ill give it a year first. Never been a big spesh fan but that new levo also seems very refined and apparently they really focused on durabilify with new motor. 48v and no belt etc. Finally have a steep seat angle and bike can have up to 180 fork. A cascade link giving it 170 rear w a 180 fork would be sweet. Angles can be dialed to perfection with all the adjustments(head angle, bb height and cs length), swat box above the side entry battery and you can ride it in the park with just the 240w bottle cage extender battery at just slightly over 40lbs.

In the SC version of flow there is no EMTB+ , the top level of assist is Turbo/ then eMTB/ then tour/ then eco left to right,

pretty much all I have used is the turbo there is a slider so the user can selct everything from 10 to 100 NM a

lso there is a button you can hit to make the power delivery more sketchy I think dynamic which i was playing with before the update

You can pick and chose which modes you want in the Bosch Flow app. I have Turbo/eMTB+/eMTB/Tour+ selected as mine.

I demo'd a Vala the other day. Took it down the trails I had ridden recently to get a true feel. First thing I noticed is how much faster I was going on the down into corners because of the weight. On flatter downs with gap jumps I was clearing the gap whereas I wouldn't even bother attempting on my Amish bike because I didn't have the speed as I would to gassed at that point. It felt like my Bronson handling wise, just the weight was noticeable. I did 4500 vert and 30 miles and had used 2 bars of battery. The thing has plenty of battery for me. Mostly rode the green mode. The emt+ is interesting the way it launches you forward. Overall I enjoyed the bike.
I do wish there were move avenues to demo different brands. I can demo Specialized, Ibis, and SC.
I'm going to buy one shortly...just which one idk

I had the cheapest carbon Bullit for 4 yrs before the cheapest carbon Vala 70 AND even tho its only 3 lbs different 52+ vs 50 it really feels alot lighter especilay in how light the steering feels is a big difference

I really like Santa Cruz product they had to ditch VPP to fit the 4 bar but IME its OK , 4 bar is OK so was VPP but Shimano EP8 sucked dead goats, I REALLY like the Bosch especialy after the 15NM up grade it was like xmas in july !

The cable op SRAM transmission works great just trust it to shift anywhere and it will also its all steel so its gona last, the ZEB feels about the same as the last ZEB, the fox float X seems fine, just like the last SDG tellis seat post its OK I think a monkey could probably rebuild one (I did) they are cheap to rebuild with a cartrdge but buy the shim kit at the same time

IME I'm not super crazy about the DB8 brakes so far cuz the front was screaming like a mofo so that is somewhere you might upgrade to mavens, I finaly got rid of noise with a pad change but it will be ok if donot ask too much of it

So in other words SC has specd the cheapo carbon VALA model 70 in much the same tried and true as they did on the old cheapo carbon Bullit and that is what I got cuz the Bosch motor will be the same across the line is the same and the weight is about the same.

I like the dark green metal flake, none of this new color BS that looks like a hospitol corridor painted with a wet mop

SC just announced the aluminium Vala which is 4 lbs more and some of the spec is lower to get the price down so its 3kcan $ less SO I think if you want the VALA go for the dark green 70 in carbon

Guy I know a little just bought an Amflow and is raving about it. The tech and the weight look intriguing. I just don't know about all this tech in a bike. More tech seems like more shit to fail.

Are you buying a bicycle with a motor or a motor with a bicycle ?
IME the motor/ battery adds a whole nuther level of fuckery to a bicycle SO yeah you are into shit that fails
ask yerself if/ when a motor fucks up who is gona be there for you and so maybe you want an lbs ?
So anvinox or Bosch any thing but Shimano IME

Well, I'm more about the down and the Amflow is behind the premier brands. But this is a wake up call for everyone else.

Hard wire the AXS derailleur. Pass code protection. Tracking ability. Traction control. Quiet motor.

I think their power to weight ratio is really good, but that is what makes them weak on the down I think. It's not stiff enough. Also, they made their own wheel set, so who knows how that will go. In a couple years these guys will probably be up at the top with everyone else.

I supose you can wait for the next latest greatest but I needed a bike right now with a dealer in town so the SC dealer was 4 blocks away so I bought over the phone the guy who put my Vala together races DH but trains on a Vala cuz he can get 5 training runs every day after work all by himself

The Bullit will be even better with 170mm front & rear

something to consider if you are gona be hard on equipment the SC product has a lifetime warranty on frame/ rims/ bearings

all the full power bikes are gona be around 50lbs,

I have 4 SC bikes right now. I've used SC warranty a couple times and it's been flawless. Although they are making small changes lately. It's not the same company with Rob gone. COVID wreaked havoc on the entire industry. Now this Amflow comes in after the firestorm with guns blazing. Timing luck eh.

The Shimano part was the only part of my SC Bullit that sucked dead goats IME and now there are no shimano parts on the SC Eebs SC hated Shimano so much they had to redesigned the VPP rear end for a Bosch to work so they could get rid of the Shimano motors on their Eebs so they did and the 4-bar seems to work fine IME

no idea what things were like before Rob left but shopbro tells me SC is the best brand they deal with from a customer service pov and they dealt with a bunch of hi end brands

NormalyBuying an acoustic bike from out of town or mail order or wtf is not a probelm and i have, but just remember hanging a motor on a bike adds a level of fuckery you can nolonger fix which I have seen twice and SO I wanted an LBS 4 blocks away

Unless the bike shops in your area suck then maybe the online brand is better. Thats great you have a good shop and a good connection.
As far as motors it sounds like the avinox is more of a motor with pedaps attached and bosch is pedals with a motor attached. Boschs sensors and software is more refined for feel and traction

Didn't YT your ^^ fav online brand go insolvent the day after they announced their Eeb ? there is something to be said for ordering a bike from an established dealer who has been there 30 yrs

sure a big brand could go tits up as we have seen like kona did in fact that dealer sold a lot of kona back in the day

yeah the bosch feels better in every way than shimano hit the power switch whihc is on top tube insted of down where its hard to reach and it clicks while shimano I can not tell if its on until I see lights

Just talked to the yt guys. Alls good, in north america atleast. I think there working through the details before we see new stock though. Pretty much every bike company is at risk. Lots of rumours of the big guys like spesh and giant with warehouses full of old stock. We wont know until its too late

The bike is still in the box, so I'm sure it's 85nm. And that's all I want or need. I bought this thing to ride with friends that are on them...not necessarily because I needed one. I love the grind up on my Amish bikes, but love the down even more. I still have two Ups I haven't been able to clean. When I solve the puzzle it's pretty satisfying. Right now it's a combo of fitness and tech to clean the 2nd crux at the 700 vert mark.
