Yeah I wouldn't be surprised. One of the patrol women we chatted with was like, "Yeah season coming to a close quickly! Lot of melting in the past 4 or 5 days." Air temp was 55* up there yesterday and complete bird with the sun cranking.

there's no way this operation can be remotely close to profitable or close to breaking even, right? Makes sense they are trying to offload it, but doesn't seem very sustainable to any buyer.

I’m assuming they make most of their money off the camps that operate there?

I think that good years are at least close to breaking even, but nobody is actually making money on the project on a multi-year timeline.

It's one of those places that if I had money I just wanted to burn I would buy the basin just to preserve it. It's like piece of ski history that should continue to operate even if it barely makes money or loses it. Kind of surprising some super rich orthodontist skier hasn't purchased it to lose money on and save on taxes.

It's on my shortlist of potential beneficiaries in my Powerball dreams, but I haven't managed to buy the right ticket yet.

That drive never gets old fosho, but its the Park, so traffic can be soul crushing. If ya catch it right and know the way, you can blaze up there damn quickly.

    Beartooth Pass conditions?

I had it on record from a Beartooth Employee a few years ago that the operation was mostly supported by Big Sky investors, whatever that means. However, Boyne and Crossharbor were named as funders.

Regardless, camping was excellent last weekend with Whiteroom Guardian and his bud, and we had a fun time shredding the headwall, which was in pretty good shape compared to years past.

Beartooth Basin ski area was pretty hammered out by moguls, so I’m not sure I’d pay the $50 full day ticket. I also got a light scolding for going down the ridge line and poaching a little chute. Regardless, the stoke was high and well worth a trip to celebrate how cool that little operation is.

“ great view mag - you skiing saturday or heading out?Looks mighty quiet out there...”I’m here till saturday night for those seeking change of a nickle. Come on out and have some fun! Gotta fly outta bzn sunday morning. No verizon coverage at the basin, so look for green windshirt hoodie on praxis.
