I hope it works out, but unfortunately the TGR lotto pool failed to buy the correct ticket, so I can't help.
The challenge of making it profitable combined with the inconsistency of being able to (briefly) open at all due to snow, the road, etc., is what I meant by "feasible."

The pass doesn't need that place anymore. It should become one of the many dozens of ski areas that outgrew their usefulness and closed. Clean it up and be done with it.

Yep. Skied a metric fuck ton of that area and only a handful of days on the poma, mainly before it was open to the public. The terrain outside the basin is immense and so much better. It would probably take it back to the prior days traffic wise as well.

Here's a good look at BTB in a legit snow year. The place oozes with soul and I will forever cherish my time spent there.

Tough place to run a ski area. The road up is in Montana, the resort is in Wyoming so they are always dealing with multiple states and agencies for permits and access. The road closed for weather when the ski area could have been open and Montana doesn't care.

They had to buy a winch cat because they were no longer permitted to drive the cat across the tundra to access/egress the ski area on a flatter approach.

The lifts are old and they had maintenance issues.

The terrain is avy prone and needs consistent refreeze to stay safe. Slide for life conditions that took out many an expert on the no easy way in entrance.

Climate change has not been a friend to BB.

Logic does say the place shouldn't be there with lifts turning, but it is/was and the owner was always there and cool to us. And those of us who embrace touron status, visiting from faraway shitholes like Iowa, were blown the fuck away to actually be able to spin laps up there. Myself with my girl. On rad terrain. And groomers at the bottom for summer ski camps. Beers in the parking lot with dogs running around.

What a thing to have experienced after driving past decades prior admiring the lift towers in the summer.

No shortage of backcountry there and elsewhere that isn't lift served, not many lift served options for skiing in the summer outside of Timberline, maybe the Basin for early June, yurp. The Blackcomb glacier is closed this summer, lack of snow combined with Dopplemayr towers that need work so they can lower the rope. Woodward at Copper. Any others?

This is a bummer, but it was pretty clear it was coming by the lack of aggressive openings. I still vote that it would be cool if some wide eyed soul with a malfunctioning frontal lobe signs on to keep the dream alive.

B’tooth’s are accessible from both MT and WY, not just from the RedLodge side.

Good clarification. The staff all comes up from Montana, most of the camping is in Montana, etc. Long way to anything on the Wyoming side. But certainly as a destination it is accessible from Wyoming without going through Montana.

Loosely related, but still on a summer skiing note, my 14 yo went to Timberline last week for race camp with MHSSC. Had a blast and generally gave us rave reviews of the operation. Went rock climbing, white water rafting, tons of trampoline time. Good weather last week and minimal crowds so they got a lot of reps in. I heard this week was busier.

Her first plane ride without her parents. Camp picks up all the kids that fly in, loads them into a bus, and hauls them up to the mountain.

Dude, there is 5 improved camp sites on the wy side and a shit ton of unimproved camp spots. True that it’s a ways from a town on the wy side but we never needed to go to town when up there. We went there to get away from that shit. Lived in Cody for many years then Bozeman. If it doesn’t re open staffing is a non issue, just like before. I sort of lean to let it go and dismantle. It is cool in a way though.
Cool shot of the kid. Great experience for her.

Dismantle it?! Gtfoh ... say what you want about that place that little hill has the best vibe anywhere I've ever skied and I have met countless lifelong friends there. Of course there's a lot more to that area than just the ski area but poma bumps with your friends in June and July are cool as shit. Just like clock work the mountain goats show up to lick the salt at the end of the day and just like clockwork the endless winter ski bums show up when that pass opens. Some one will buy it or someone will buy out one of the 2 owners so I'm not too worried about it closing but if it does I will be sad my daughters didn't get to ride that poma.it was in the works to take my oldest this year but they couldn'tget their shit together. A lot of ppl work really hard to make that little place work and try and keep a lot of ppl safe and I never met anyone who worked there for the money. Nor have I met anyone who worked there that I disliked or had a problem with. When there's nothing but mega Corp ski areas and mega Corp ski passes left it will be a sad day. That place was never meant to be a world wide attraction just a place for skiers to train in the off season and that's exactly what it was for me and many others. Literally the bare minimum to get you back up the hill so you could slide back down it again as fast as possible. Anyway rant over... sigh

Still shows as For Sale on their website. No idea if they're still actively pursuing a sale or if they just haven't updated the website. Either way, doesn't look promising for their next season.

Instagram post today has my hopes up that they’ll at least attempt to spin the pomas this year.

Skiing on the Beartooth back in 96? I watched the fireworks on Snow King, from the Snake River bench from Moran to Moose, as I rolled back into town after a long weekend.
    Unforgettable.

sick. Wish they'd get it open that sat of memorial day but that's probably tradition that they don't open until actual memorial day.
