Dihedral or non-dihedral?

What's the difference between a dihedral and a nondihedral paddle blade? Looking at an AT3 but they have 2 different models of it one di and one not.

Late post but I'll try to help. A blade with a dihedral has a "ridge" down the middle of the blade creating an angled power face with will give you a smoother stroke but less purchase. A non-dihedral blade has a flat power face that gives you more purchase and therefore more power but will flutter. Typically, river runners prefer dihedral blades and creekers and playboaters will go with a non-dihedral. If you are looking at an AT3, save yourself some time and money and just buy a Werner. I paddled with ATs for a long time and have owned a bunch of them but I've broken all of them too. I've been on a Werner for a season and a half and it is awesome. ATs do have a great feel to them.

I have used 4 AT paddles in 5 years. I love the paddles but they always break. When my current AT breaks I will look for something else.

i would definitly recommend a werner. the one i am using now has had serious shit thrown its way, i'm the second owner, and aside from regular wear and tear, its still functional. my only bitch is that it is a straight shaft. i like the feel of a bent shaft more, but beggars can't be choosers.
