Video Jong Here. We were just recently given a JVC Mini DV Digital Video Camera for our wedding shower. It's a model GR-D270u. This is our first video camera and I know it isn't anything special but it takes pretty good video from what I can tell. I know pretty much next to nothing about video but love watching all the Video Trip Reports on the board. My question is, can I somehow transfer the video from the Mini DV to my computer so I can do some simple editing and to add some music for beginer Video TR's? Any help would be appreciated. if you have a firewire/1394/ilink port on your computer, and you have winXP or a mac with 10.x, it's pretty simple.
On a PC with XP, just plug the camera into the firewire port and windows movie maker will offer to capture video for you. Follow the simple instructions on capturing, then edit away. WMM is not exactly packed with features, but it's fine for quick video editing.
On a mac I'm sure it's easier, but not having one on hand I don't know the details.
