    Riverboarding

Who here has seen Riverboarding before? This is not the riverboarding where you lay on a piece of foam and float down the river. We ride small surfboards on rivers. We ride upstream on these rivers at speeds of 25+ mph. NO BOAT NEEDED. It is all powereed by a bungee system. For video of Riverboarding check out www.bansheeriverboards.com - - - If you live in or near Jackson Hole, Wyoming, you should check out the local riders who are just upstream from the Wilson Bridge almost everyday. These guys are tearing it up!! They are taking the sport to a new level with their tricks. We hope to post video of these guys soon on our website.

    Riverboarding

Are you talking about Elijah Mack (surfrivers.com)from Eugene? He was supposed to meet us when we rode the Willamette River 2 weeks ago, but he never showed up.

Is this the start of a brouhaha in the nascent river sliding movement? A portent of a skiing vs. snowboarding schism?

    River Sliding?

What is River Sliding? I looked it up on Google and found nothing? Riverboarding - We ride small surfboards on rivers and shoot ourselves upstream at 25+ mph with a bungee system. One end of the bungee is tied to a rock, tree or anything solid on the side of the river. The other end of the bungee system is attatched to your board. You push the board down into the water and the river current pushes you down river and stretches the bungee system. Once you are fully stretched, you move your weight forward on the board and ride upstream. The video on the website makes it look easy, but it takes most riders a few weeks to learn how to stand up and ride. Beginners ride upstream on their stomachs or on their knees.

I've got some footage from the zambezi river

    http://surfingthemag.com/surfing-pho...rt1/index.html

    and

    http://surfingthemag.com/surfing-pho...rt2/index.html

other wise river surfer are becoming the rollerblader posers of the kayak scene here in montreal...like in the ocean, there is even less surfable waves available and it never break...so endless ride...if your not into areals and spins you can stand there for ever...a lot like those roller blader that never come off the ramp and do shit...

this is a wave on the st-laurent, the rider was at her first runs and she greatly improved now, but its the caliber that we encounter every day and its a line up of 10 kayakers and 10 surfers, so one run at every 30 min.

I've got to pay respect for the riders in the Zambezi video, they are the real shit, not like our ''so happy to say they surf'' weekend river surfer.

    Getting Started

We have a Riverboarding 101 DVD available. Go to the contact page at www.bansheeriverboards.com and request one. What you need in a river is a spot that is at least 4 feet deep and the current has to be strong enough that you could not stand in the current without getting pushed downstream. You can tie off to anything stationary on the side of the river - Tree, Rock, shrub.

Are you kidding? Rollerblading and River surfing, the same deal?
David Weare and Gavin Sutherland are the real deal(two of the Four surfers) on the Zambezi in Feb '05. The third is a punk named Billy Byran. The fourth is ME!
Some how because these surfers can rip means that all other river surfing is like roller blading? Go make a corprate sell out video you close minded child.
Gavin and Dave are true surfers who understand that surfing is about stoke not talent.
So when I come to Montreal(and I will)to surf with my family next summer and my kids or my wife are surfing and wasting your precious time you can say something about what kooks they are. I really hope you do!!!!!
I am sick of hearing bullshit!
And the riverboarding guys, I had family matters to deal with. So crying about me not showing ain't gonna help your mission.
All this internet shit is for kids.
I WELCOME ANYONE TO COME TO MY BARBERSHOP AND TALK SHIT MAN TO MAN!

    Robert-
My wife just said she doesn't think you were trying to dis me about not showing up. So if that is true then all the best to you.
I like what you are doing. Your the underdog. All these cool mutha-f*&kers are luaghing because they think what you are doing or what I am doing or what rollerbladers are doing is lame and we must be kooks. But the whole point is we are just having fun. So don't let anybody get you down.
And Supa-punani is really a cool cat. He does this shit talking for jokes so you gotta luagh. These other kooks are gonna catch a hot one from me one day.

I was gonna be mellow but i can't take it!
FUCK EVAN SLATER!(Surfing Mag) FUCK CHRIS MAURO!(Surfer Mag)
    FUCK STEVE FISHER(The king-shit)
FUCK CORRAN ADDISON(A legend in his own pee-brain)
"I tried to be cool but you are a true punk bitch!"
AND FUCK ANYBODY ELSE WHO THINKS THEY CAN ACT LIKE SHIT HEADS AND NOT GET CALLED ON IT.
This corprate sellout ego crap that dominates surf-snow-skate-etc...... may never change back to something true, but I ain't ever gonna stop calling a spade a spade!

    Fucking boy band shit!

    Mack

    And to Fredpiston-
Jay Adams would have smashed your face in back in the day. Back then you would have been talking shit about skating because you were to stoked on your unicycle! Maybe Brittany Spears should be your hero! Don't insult Jay!

Holy shit! You are a piece of work my man! Damn! Maybe you should reflect on the parable of Jeff Clark, it holds a lot of promise for your life. Straight is the way, winding the path.
