ago my wife and I took our bikes to Belgium for a Gran Fondo (Ronde van Vlaanderen). When we turned up to the airport the Delta gate agent ignored the baggage fee quoted on their website and charged me $750 each for the bikes! And then in Brussels I got charged 750 euros each for the return journey. I complained by phone and email to escalating levels of supervisors and managers, until eventually I was told to stop contacting them because they would never reimburse me. They said that gate agents had discretion to charge whatever they liked, never mind what the website stated.
complained to the Better Business Bureau in Atlanta (Delta’s HQ location) and got a check within the week. The moral being companies hate official scrutiny of their shady business practices.

I was dreading the hassle of writing a complaint letter about USAA to the Vermont insurance regulators. I decided to drop a few prompts in ChatGPT. With a bit of tweaking with the prompts and some minor editing it was done in moments. Filed with the state and then had ChatGPT convert it to a letter to the CEO and board of directors. All done in well under an hour.

Took a couple of weeks but I got my $1,200 back. All in all it was a fun and amusing process.

In other innuendo news, This cracked me up so much I got out of bed at six. Last night I had to cook off three pounds of ground beef for the dog. (He has been rejecting kibble), so I cooked it off as one meat loaf.
This morning wifey went to feed the dog, and wasn’t happy that it needed to be cut up.
I asked “what’s the problem?”, so she yelled from the kitchen “it’s just one big, hard thing that I can’t deal with!!!”

    Needless to say, hilarity ensued.

She wanted it all chopped up, and mushy. Should I be scared?
However, a three pound penis would be…challenging to ride a bike with.

A lot of companies have people whose job it is to deal with govt agencies, BBB etc. People who actually have the authority to fix things, unlike the garden variety customer disservice people. And frequently they speak intelligible English.

I may not be very tall, but one girl in college described me like this:

I've had this simple bookshelf audio device with 2 separated speakers that I've used for 20+ years. The audio quality that comes from it is beyond impressive. I have had the speakers mounted on my wall for that long and the base unit and the remote have received some major fuckary.

I found the same exact (almost, but somehow upgraded?) unit brand new on ebay for $40. It showed up today. It's as shiny as I just bought it.

Here's to another 20 years of really good rocking out. Simple pleasures.

+1. I was just talking about this with some friends at my house. My home system plays through some old tall AR speakers, and the sound is really notable…in a good way. Especially when I spin vinyl.

Still have AR’s in the bike shed (but with a subwoofer now). Gotta be 35-40 years old.

Yup. When you file a complaint to a financial system regulator a copy of the complaint is sent directly to the CEO. This CEO may or may not read their own email and even if they do they probably forward the complaint on, but the person who makes it go away is typically far more empowered than your average customer service supervisor. Not that you’ll get what you want, but at least the no you get will be better written.
    focus.

For 10 years or so my stereo setup was my dads old Sansui amp and some Tecnics speakers. It did sound pretty damn good. He also had Advent loudspeakers in the garage to that needed new foam. Sorta wanted to repair those, but never did.

Love this. Still have my early 90s Yamaha system in the basement. It deserves a better venue for the sound

Back in college i used to terrorize the neighborhood with a pair of Cerwin-Vega AT-15s driven by a Phase Linear amp stack.

Just to add to the Financial Complaints conversation. I worked for the stagecoach, and we had a Complaints group and an Executive Complaints group that handled any escalated Complaints. Resolution is supposed to be equal across the board, but the Executive team could resolve quickly.

My early 90s Sony head unit, CD changer, and JBL speakers are in our nonprofit’s office. Maybe I’ll migrate them to our garage when I’m done finishing it.

I've got my sister going so good right now. She is so straight laced I don't think she even knows what day it is. Granted, we only communicate a couple times a year, but she is that thick.

If Johnny Cash had written true to life lyrics:

Just to watch him get high

I've often wondered how Johnny could have wound up in Folsom (CA) prison for a murder in NV.
