Certainly, no one is infallible. But, the average cop has a high school diploma and gets 21 weeks of training. From what I can find on google, becoming a fighter pilot requires a baccalaureate degree and a decade of training that costs $6-10 million. Not exactly apples-to-apples.

Why oh why is every goddam piece of footage grainy, black and white, and impossible for us common dolts to discern from a fly stuck on a camera lens.

We can capture high resolution images on Mars, photograph nebulas, but can’t take a clear pic of something in the sky?

I’m not in denial of this, in fact I’m waiting for my birth family to come take me to my home planet.

I haven't gone back to check but my recollection is that all the pictures we've seen lately were taken by military imaging/targeting/night vision etc systems, not by natural visible light photography--which might be a clue to the explanation. When pilots are talking to each other about all of them seeing the same thing--are they seeing it by eyeball or through those systems?

The Tic Tac object, which is the one I keep coming back to because it's by far the most credible/compelling, was visually seen by 3 different F-18 crews, was visible on their FLIR system in both IR and TV modes, and on airborne and ship-borne radar.

I doubt anyone here is unaware of the education and training difference. But both situations involve the Appeal to Authority logical fallacy.

I imagine we’re all interested in the (rare) cases that involve both objective measurement or signal (radar etc) and the human sensory-based recollections.

not likely going to happen IF, and that's a big IF where-ever the aliens are and i am not denying that there is other intelligent life in the universe; but it has a big problem getting here.

there are some big IFs in here but:

if the other things/people on other planets are organic, they have to be able to live a dam long time or they are going to have to travel at better than light speed to get here if they live on one of the known planets in habitable zones that support life. my first bug if, maybe they do not need to do that, maybe they live on nitrogen; but then i seriously doubt they are getting out to say high or want this oxygen planet.

    second:
that these ships are defying physics by their movement, the same physics exist throughout the universe, there's not separate laws for every galaxy. now, if they are visiting and looking like they defy physics, more than likely thier bodies can handles more than ours or they have suits that enable them to handle more and the ships can then make more dramatic movements that make it look like they defy the laws of physics,

not denying its possible as we are stupid enough to send out signals daily to the universe to say hey, we're here come check us out and make us your sex slaves to anyone that has the ability to come on over as we sure as hell can get far, but those are two big issues imo.

Nice to see someone bringing some real thought to this subject.

If I understand you right, it sounds like there might be ways we can reduce the attractiveness of our planet in the event that such creatures do head our way.

Obviously it's unlikely, but we look for asteroids. Watch for hurricanes. We're a cautious species. So we could sequester the nitrogen, right? Maybe freeze it at the poles or pump it into the ocean? Where do you think we should start? Could there also be chlorine-based life forms? Hydrogen? Carbon?
