Skeggs TR - 7/6 - speed, speed, speed
Met up with Gonzo, Lohboy, and non-mag Allen last night to do a couple laps at Skeggs.
Hadn't met Gonzo yet, but knew he'd done some riding at Skeggs. Wanted to show him some of the trails that are off the beaten path, so to speak.
Did the tried and true - Manzanita - Cross Cut - Gordon Mill on the first loop. Crosscut was fabulous, as it always is. One of the best trails in the park, IMO. They did a killer job rerouting it, and it never ceases to provide sheer adrenaline fun. It's fast, narrow, and don't miss the turn or you're off the edge.
Had to somehow ditch a big group that somehow was riding in tandem with us, so we snuck off to Steam Donkey while they hit up Blue Blossom. Told Gonzo about the HEE HAW required during Steam Donky and we were off.
Lohboy flew like the wind, as usual. The trail's in much better shape than it has been, and you could pretty much just fly. Steam Donkey is fast, but still has some sections that you have to be on it. I know at one point, Gonzo said he pretty much was on the verge of endo-ing the entire time.
One little tumble, and my previously unbruised right leg got some nice bruises to match the ones on my left leg that I got in Tahoe. A nice gash in my knee to boot. I really shouldn't even leave the house without full armor on
.
Gonzo ownerized us on the beefy climbs, leaving us in the dust.
And then to Mountain House for good food, good conversation, and the a great end to a great ride!
Great to meet you, R! See you back out there soon!
HEE HAW!
