Hmm, not sure how to take this. The future Mrs Teleee is a professor and is the most amazing person I have ever met. Although, she certainly isn't what you would picture if you thought professor.

I’m sure future Mrs Teleee is the most amazing person.
    I’m just profiling my friends.
(also it could be my friends are the unusual ones)

For example, I was trying to help my friend to jump start her car.
Her car battery positive/negative weren’t marked in red/black.
She was so confused why it wasn’t color coded and refused to clip jumper cables.
I found the exact car battery online and showed color codes to convince her.
She has PhD in computer science from Carnegie Mellon, post doctoral at Harvard and currently a professor at a well known university.

What I learned about my PhD friends, they are very smart and well knowledged at one thing (most likely what they have PhD for).
But if they face unexpected situation that doesn’t have a text book for, they go into panic mode.
Things very simple and crystal clear to me are the biggest mysteries for them.
    I find that very odd.
I guess it’s all about the book smart vs.
    street smart.

You know this TGR right? All threads get cunted up sooner rather than later. NMC, I totally understand and that has always been my stereotype as well. Suffice it to say, my mind and my generalization has been changed forever.

It sure isnt, and it is part of the reason I keep coming back to this shithole. Stuff like this, Plakespears cancer thread, and oh so many more that have gone down through the years. Believe me, you dont need to lecture me on the history of this place.

this must have been similar to me trying to explain to my friend with a phd in neuroscience that if she was going to try and drive her car home that had no antifreeze in it and was obviously leaking that she needed to put water in it even though it said not to right on the radiator cap, and that when she got down from the mountain she could go to a gas station and check the level and buy actual antifreeze...

Ignore list for that? Good god, LBL is your friend so perhaps your perspective is lost, but he's not shitting on your friend nor is he doing anything to hurt this effort. Telee, you already know this, but you have nothing to answer for.

Ha, thanks Danno. I wasn't to worried about it. I am pretty confident on my standing in this community, having, drank, fished with, skied with and hosted in my house many many maggots. As well as contributed to not only LBL's fund, but many others in need here. I am guessing they are stressed over the situation and I don't blame them, that being said, this is TGR and if you come here for the benefits, you should be willing to take some of the tomfoolery that goes with them. This community is amazing and caring, but you have to be willing to get through the tough coating.

This was a sticky that morphed into an argument about the relevance of having a PhD for cripes sake.

Also, the best landcruiser mechanic I know has a PhD in microbiology (most of you idiots couldn't even replace a radiator without help), so everybody just STFU and lets get back to business.

Do you really think something posted some 150+ posts in is going to have any impact on how much money gets donated to LBL or otherwise impacts how much help he gets?

And when you're on a phone, the "it's a sticky" is meaningless because it doesn't show.

    tj,

Let me know if LBL needs a good legal contact. I have attorney friends in MT that focus more on environmental issues, but they know folks in Idaho and might be able to point him in a good direction. They were a big help on getting me to someone in Idaho for my mom's estate stuff.

    Peace and good luck
