Punani- I almost went there once to build a coconut oil factory.
Palau rocks, from what my friend who went said.
Friendly people on a kicked-back schedule, like most Polynesians.
Try the beetle nuts. My bud sent me a package of them, but I couldn't feel anything.

Cost: $1400 SFO-PNI airfare (w/ Honolulu stopover so I can spend a night in Club Hubba Hubba).

Surf camp is $140/day includes all you can surf barrels, all you can eat food, hotel. I hope they have hot native chicks there in need of some pleasure.

Damn that program is the shit!

Edit: Caroline Islands cover on Surfing mag. Surfing this would be like being the meat in a Jessica Alba - Jessica Biel sandwich

Surfed Guam once, It was very hot in and out of the water. Water was about 85` ! Surf was really good, but the locals say that it's flat for months at a time (you gotta score a typhoon). Everyone I met was super friendly on Guam, kinda like Hawaii in the 50's.

Sounds similar to new ireland. I'm thinking of heading there about that time. uncrowded reef breaks, friendly locals and the possibility to explore.

New ireland (so i'm told) gets its surf from the winter storms in the N pacific, so micronesia should get those too. Nov-march i think is the season.

You guys are KILLING me. TGR did that show on FUEL, and we invited the SURFING mag photog to put it in print.

We never did reveal the name of the place we were in, and in fact misdirected the audiance to another location, as did SURFING magazine.

Some spots deserve to be secret - although if you search hard enough you will be able to figure it out I'm sure.

Go Punani - It will blow your mind.

    bump!

I made the mistake of googling Micronesia. A different language on each island in some areas. Islands with traditional dress: grass skirts without tops. Giant stone coins: change for a nickle takes on a whole new meaning. Even without insane waves this should be a killer experience. Have a good trip.

I have surfed Kavieng and below. It's fun, but not too serious. Indo waves, but usually only around head height.

Oh, Stephen......you'd love it, from what my bud told me. There was one road on the island and all his helpers lived along that road. He'd drive it and pick up his workers every morning. After a while, he started to notice that he was picking the guys up at different houses every morning. Turns out swapping beds was just a normal thing there. It was kind of a matriarchal society where the guys just got loaded and the women took care of whoever they decided to.

    edit: Nice synopsis, Sobchak
