I love America which is why i am so pissed that it has been corrupted by these neocon buffoons.
Just because I have never fired a shot in anger does not mean I have not earned my freedom any more than any other American.
And if I was asked to serve while in my prime, I would not have dodged it like Bush, cheney, Rove, Rummy, and Wolfowitz.
If I don't write code, people die.

Quebec was the strongest fortress in Canada, the lynchpin of French power in North America and the British knew that if they were able to capture Quebec, the rest of the country would soon fall into their dominion, so in early 1759 they planned the largest attack of the war, a combined force of about 9,000 soldiers under General James Wolfe and a fleet of 20 ships under Admiral Charles Saunders. The British lay siege to Quebec from June 27th until September 18th, when the French surrendered their garrison in the city. This was the turning point of the war, with an eventual British victory all but certain. By the end of the year, the British had control of almost all of North America, other than Montreal and Detroit. By the end of 1760, these two sites fell to the British. Amherst's campaign against Montreal resulted in the surrender of that city in September and one week later Major Robert Rogers took over Fort Detroit. The British had gained all of North America from the French.
This de facto control was confirmed two and a half years later at the Treaty of Paris, February 10, 1763, which gave all of North America east of the Mississippi, other than New Orleans, to the British.
Not to start a flame war but is it really any different than what happened to Nixon in 1960 with the Democratic Political machine in Chicago. History repeats itself that's the problem with history.Originally Posted by KevinDineen

Having worked at polls during my life, there is always a way to cheat if you really want to cheat. The honest need to keep the power hungry in check if a democracy is to be successful in the long run. We still have a good system of checks and balances, it's just a question of remembering that and continuing to fight for what you believe is right.
I believe we are going through a period where special interests with money (mainly corporate interests) have learned how to tweak the system for there own benefit. This is probably the most dangerous thing that could happen because it is something most of the founding fathers could never have concieved of in there time. The founding fathers understood human nature but is up to everyone to make sure this is a government for the people.
Ever look at the percentage of people who don't vote? The non voters could change every election in the last 100 years.

And if it's French then you are definitely an idiot. What have you done to earn your freedom, before you start crapping on other people (whose backgrounds you don't know)? Are you suggesting that to criticize the current administration you need have fought in a war? Are you saying that this administration's tactics have been completely aboveboard, that there aren't serious legal questions remaining regarding Bush v. Gore, or what? Or are you just being a knee-jerk douche dog? What is it? WHAT?Originally Posted by Phatstix

As for the rest, it's an interesting idea, though probably impossible to prove. This country is going to hell, and the bible thumping religous right is leading the way.

Let's bring it all down!
Tell me who's the real patriots
The Archie Bunker slobs waving flags?
Or the people with the guts to work
For some real change
Rednecks and bombs don't make us strong
Real freedom scares you
'Cos it means responsibility
So you chicken out and threaten me
Saying, "Love it or leave it"
I'll get beat up if I criticize it
You say you'll fight to the death
To save your worthless flag
If you want a banana republic that bad
Why don't you go move to one
I'm thankful I live in a place
Where I can say the things I do
Without being taken out and shot
So I'm on guard against the goons
Trying to take my rights away
Our land, I love it too
I think I love it more than you
I care enough to fight
The stars and stripes of corruption
Let's bring it all down!
If we don't try
If we just lie
If we can't find
A way to do it better than this
Who will?

Anyone with sense enough to pour piss out of a boot could glean the kernel of truth from the main Bush/Cheney positions.
Do you have any idea how many people in this country hate doing their homework?!
And if you think the media presents the full story to us, boy have you got a lot of learning to do.
Phatstix, if you want Kev to leave, make him. That was the lamest argument I've ever heard.
