Its only July and Im ski sick

I really miss skiing . I think I am depressed. I am already looking ahead to my winter break and thinking about/looking into where to go with a few buddies. The option is to go with our school to Steamboat for $300 which includes 4 days skiing and 5 nights. Then catch wherever the storm hits in Colo for a few days before heading home. The other option that we have talked about, is this being our senior year we want to do something special. We have thought about flying into Seattle and then driving up to Whistler and staying for a week. I have had dreams of skiing Whistler for some time and would love to get there while I still have a chance. It will be more expensive probably but worth it. What do you guys have to say about this. If we go to Steamboat I get a really good deal at a decent place, where I have the chance at getting some of the best snow. Then we could always head out to wherever the next storm is gonna hit in the area. Drop your opinions.

in my opinion plans suck....but i dont know your situation...where you coming from? Are you old enough to rent a car?

If i was you i would just go somewhere with snow and have zero plans....

drive to where its deepest....in CO you have access to so many resorts all within pretty easy drive of eachother. Same goes for CA, UT, WA, ect....

just wing it and i guarantee you will have a good time...

yeah Im old enough to rent a car. The problem with just winging it, I hate not knowing what is ahead. I just like having everything planned. Also trying to find somewhere to crash for 3-4 guys is a pain, especially if you want to be close to a resort. It would be cheaper to just set up a little package. Also the fact that I am coming from Michigan means just wining it is gonna be kinda hard.

Yeah I have been thinking about that. I am applying to medical school this summer for 06. If things dont work out I wouldnt mind being a ski bum and working at a resort. Or using my degree to do some research close to the mountains like at Uof Utah

M is dead on. you have 6 months before you even know where there is good early season snow and youre depressed ? some were still skiing on monday.

i'm w/ him. wait 'til you find out who is in for a good snow season in december and start looking for airfares. if you get a car in CO., you can go drive to where they have snow.
no guarrantee whistler gets it, it was a late year for 'em this year; and they're not closing down any year soon.

Plans DO suck - just block out the time, put $$ together - then head wherever looks good, cheap airfare/vehicle/lodging can always be had on short notice for the resourceful..

You won't find a better deal anywhere. period.
you can always go to Whistler - by the way, nowhere is snow-guaranteed.

No shit. Can I get in on that deal? Serious, $300 for 4 days skiing and lodging that does not involve a couch???

And if you are really ski sick, then trip out west now. Plenty of corn and slush.

But that is the adventure. Seriously, you want an education on life? I mean the REAL life that deep down inside you REALLY want? Go get a taste of it.

And winging it from Michigan? Wasn't there a *ahem* movie or something *ahem* about a couple a doods from Michigan wingin' it in CO?

Then the question is Utah or Colo. Salt Lake City has awesome resorts an hour away. Making SLC our command center we would have cheaper lodging and could go wherever the storm hit in Utah. Then we wouldnt have to drive half way around Colo looking for good snow.
