That's why you need a beard wax for storm skiing. It helps with ice build up and adds a bit of weather resistance as well.

I like when my beard ices over. It actually insulates. Air space between ice layer and face. Sucks defrosting afterwards, but since I grew a beard it's rare I wear any face protection skiing.

I'm going to get mine trimmed on Friday....I like sitting in a chair and having others do it. Started in late October and got first trim a month ago.

Wife HATES IT....

I don't see it lasting much longer though...probably taken off by Spring Break.

Shared a lift with two lovely old birds on Thursday. They asked if I am part of the local Prime Timers and was I joining for the potato bar? I said no and carried on with conversation. They finally realized I was no where near 60+ years old and tried to make light of the question. I went home and butchered that deathly looking forest. Wife gets home, look who is 20 years younger from when I last saw you this morning. The short trim is colder but still holds snow for that added barrier.

Monday night I pulled out the beard trimmer and failed to check the setting. I had been trimming on a setting of 6 for a few weeks and liked the look. In my bag it had gotten pushed down to a 2 and I only figured it out when I took the first swipe at my face, at which point it was too late. Just had to finish the trim. It wasn't so much that I looked bad (I always look kind of goofy), but more that it had the potential to interfere with self-confidence, something you need when facing a panel of hostile judges. We kicked ass despite my mistakes.
