TR: Alta July 1, 2005 ... Back Where it All Begins

A few days late, but none the less.
    Date: July 1, 2005
Locale: Alta (where the hell else?!?!)
Fuk-tards (reason to be seen later): Trackhead, Powstash and myself
TR Name? OR should this be titled the "Trackhead got the sand outta his vagina" thread??

Oh well, for me the season started 10 months ago on October 29 at Alta with PowHo and Gaper Joe. 81 ski days later, I figured what better place to end it; kind-of a bittersweet day. As I type this, a flood of good emotions and memories are coming back to me.

    From:

the amazing pow skied on Halloween
to the endless winter length of the season
to the amazing pow and windbuff we skied all year (even in June)
to the lines that filled in that haven't for years (some we didn't even know existed were created)
to the plethora of bc days
to the pros and friends alike that got skied with
    to the trips taken
to the trouble gotten into at work for skiing to much
    to the photo slutting

all make it sad to see go, but also make the '04/05 season the best ever!!!!

So, to "wrap it up", first rays of sun over Patsey Marley

Alpenglow on our goal for the morning

    A snow-worm's mountains

    Got suncups??

Uh - ya, we had alot of snow this year (note the position of the lift pad )

View of Devil's Castle from the top of Sugarloaf (note the top of the Ramp Option still filled in)

The Director waiting for Powstash (also my favorite shot of the day)

The Director actually skiing (took him all season to learn to make such a "pretty" turn ) Also, note the coolio, hot red Eider gloves

Powstash "washing" off the mud and with it the season now gone by

Powstash "attempting" the "McLean Point" (good thing he's got all summer to work on it )

    My Alta

“We'll reach the end we'll all be singin'
    And we'll all be friends
    Back where it all begins”

    The Allmans

Thank you Alta, the wonderful Wasatch, TGR, Biglines and all that I had both the honor and pleasure of skiing with this past season .

Bwah! That's right. It's all about calendar months, not actual time. Otherwise one might go crazy.
Nice TR and pics, Crossover. What a great season it was.

Sunny Deathcups were only down lower on the flats

You're getting pretty good with the camera. I'm glad you finally picked one up this season. I used to love reading your amped up mini TRs without the pics, but now it's even better to have some images to go with the words. Nice work.

Such a cool write up X! And even though all of us in the PNW were high and dry this year, we lived vicariously through the Utards and their epic winter. Thanks for the stoke this past year kids (and Powstash for saving me that SUPER sweet little line on New Year's Day...aka the best day of skiing ever!)

    Encore! Encore!

Nice way to end there, Powstash, X, & TH. But I have this feeling deep down inside that the season- at least in X's mind- is far from over. I'll be watching and waiting for the super sick "Altadays in August TR"- no matter how bitchin' the suncups might get as summer finally sets in. Gotta get in some trail running, anyway, eh?

Great season, utards. Glad we got to drop in and share some of the deepest days with ya'll (long overdue pics coming this week).

    Take note:

Xover goes to great lengths to entertain himself and others with props and pranks.

He went out to a volleyball court the night before and hauled up handfulls of sand to throw in my face on the summit. As I stated prior that my 'Vagina was aching' about touring so early in the morning.

Thanks for getting me out that day. And it was a good season. Mine will start again late October in Mexico of all places.

Was a great year. Best year I have ever had. Mostly in part due to plenty of solid folks to ski with thanks to this place.
