Four more years of that to look forward to for the low low price of $30M a year. I like how he said he didn’t want to opt out because he didn’t want to go to a lesser team.

It pains me every time he takes the mound. Every damn time. Even in these so called hot streaks.
Should have sacrificed him in Game 3 and pitched someone that gave us a chance at home. Or better yet, put him in the pen.

I thought his playoff era would be higher than 5.28. Still brutal.

    OFFICIAL 2018 MLB THREAD

Severino didn’t know when the game started? Jesus Christ. How many coaches do the Yankees have and no one noticed the pitcher wasn’t getting ready? That’s hilarious. Unbelievable incompetence for the pitcher and the coaches.

NEW YORK -- Luis Severino's roller-coaster second half took another dip on Monday night.

Working with a fastball that was more than 1 mile per hour slower than it was in Wednesday's American League Wild Card Game, Severino struggled to find a groove against the Red Sox in Game 3 of the AL Division Series at Yankee Stadium.

    View Full Game Coverage
The Yankees' ace allowed six runs on seven hits and two walks in just three-plus innings, the second-shortest outing of his six career postseason starts.

Severino's night got off to an awkward start; TBS analyst Ron Darling reported the starter didn't go to the bullpen until 7:32 p.m. ET, only 10 minutes before first pitch, apparently unaware of Game 3's start time. (Game 2 began at 8:15, as did the AL Wild Card Game, Severino's most recent start.)

Severino's velocity appeared to be down a tick during the opening frame, and the Red Sox were all over his stuff from the first pitch. Mookie Betts drove Severino's first offering of the night to deep center field, and while it died at the track for the first out, the 104-mph shot temporarily quieted the Stadium.

Xander Bogaerts laced a 100.2-mph flyout to end the inning, then Rafael Devers opened the second with a 115.7-mph laser to right field for a leadoff single in the second. Devers came around to score the game's first run on Christian Vazquez's two-out infield single, which glanced off Severino's glove.

It was more of the same in the third as Betts led off with a 105.8-mph single to left. Andrew Benintendi poked a single to left field, advancing to second base on the throw to give Boston runners at second and third with none out.

J.D. Martinez hit a hard sacrifice fly -- the fifth ball hit over 100 mph to that point. Bogaerts added a 105.3-mph single, helping set up Boston's third run. Even Steve Pearce's fly out to end the inning was authoritative, leaving the bat at 102.3 mph.

In all, the Red Sox hit seven balls at 100 mph or harder during the first three innings, according to Statcast[emoji769], matching the most Severino had allowed in any start this entire season. In other words, he wasn't fooling any of Boston's hitters. That might be attributed to his fastball, which averaged 96.8 mph after clocking in at 98 mph on Wednesday against the A's. Monday was the second-lowest Severino's velocity has been this season, ahead of only his Sept. 5 start against Oakland (96.2).

Boston didn't hit him as hard in the fourth, but the results were no better for the Yankees. Brock Holt and Vazquez opened the inning with singles, then Severino walked No. 9 hitter Jackie Bradley Jr., loading the bases and bringing manager Aaron Boone out of the dugout for a pitching change.

Severino -- who received a raucous ovation when he left the mound in last week's AL Wild Card Game -- exited to a chorus of boos as Lance Lynn made his way in from the bullpen.

Lynn walked Betts to force in a run, then gave up a bases-clearing double by Benintendi that gave Boston a commanding 7-0 lead.

I thought it might be, so around 5:00 I had the crazy idea to look it up.

Impressive outing by Eovaldi, he's hitting 100 and throwing strikes, I like it.
