Man I kinda hope Snowbird doesn't give us Ikon benefits so I can really self-righteously bitch about it with my friends without being a hypocrite.

I'll take sleeper days and empty midwinter chalk over being able to go a bunch of places for free.

yeah... and for now, the corporate world hasn’t arranged a convenient way to mute criticism so that it doesn’t hurt them. you can be sure that won’t last. so take advantage while the knife is still sharp.

Imagine how crowded Jackson will be if Utard IKONeers are allowed to storm chase.

I would think if all the non-Alterra resorts put the ikon on their passes number wouldn't change much at each ski area. It would just be a shuffling of the deck among local passholders from different resorts. Utards might go to Jackson, but at the same time some Jackson locals might be visiting Tahoe or Big Sky or wherever.
It does seem right now that UT peeps are getting hosed, but Alterra management in the past has been known to make changes to passes whenever they feel like it, so things could change.

jackson will get absolutely swamped during big storm cycles if alta/snowbird get this deal for passholders too. it would be truly unmanageable, probably another 80k skier visit increase for the 19/20 season. how many season passes do alta and snowbird sell combined?

Seems like it would be in the best interest of the non Alterra resorts to create there own super pass. If JHMR was crowded this year, imagine how it will be when Tahoe & Mammoth don't get snow for most of a winter. And/or CO has a dry winter.

Well, it would be in the best interest for pass holders, but JHMR made that deal to increase numbers, and it's working. Good point as far as how snow conditions elsewhere might affect things, but Jackson is still a ways from most places and lodging is still expensive, and the ikon pass is still limited to just a handful of days, so yeah, numbers would go up, but not sure how much. Your also talking about one option out of 30 or so for ikon pass holders. It is a lot easier for UT skiers to hit Jackson, but how often does Jackson have significantly better snow to make it worth passing up the ikon options right there in the backyard?

How does Ikon change things for UT resorts compared to MC in years past? I actually skied less days in UT this year on Ikon compared to past years on MC, even tho I had to pay for extra days on MC. If your traveling from out of town to ski, most people are going to ski around the same number of days based on what their schedule allows. Ski bums might be the exception.

They did. It was called Mountain Collective and seems to be dying a slow death.

If MC is dying a slow death, why is it better than ever, and still for sale for next season? I think MC might evolve into a third option to compete w/ EPIKON

Seriously? You think Liftopia has the clout to battle Vail Resorts and Alterra? Sure every half ass journalist made that comparison in the past year to make it a 3 way but those corporate ski groups could crush liftopia like a puny bug. It isn't a competition it is a gift they give to liftopia.

Annnnnnnd your point is??? You saw a sticker in a window that happened to be given out to hundreds of thousands of skiers who maybe just maybe a very small number of them ended up actually putting it in their window? Damn. One time I was driving around Denver and I saw a Loveland sticker on a car. This other time I saw a Mad River Glen sticker. Dude. MRG isn’t even in Colorado. Once I was on the interstate in Nebraska and saw a No Pain No Jane sticker and I was like way over by Omaha.

Wow dude! I guess that touched a nerve.
I hope you enjoyed your day up there.

My point was its a f#@ken stupid sticker to put on your car.
It's even more ikonically stupid to put it on your car and roadtrip to a resort where lots of people are pissed off about the ikon pass.

Sure you have mb80ba. keep going.

We are bailing on mega passes - Ikon full last year till this year is done - hello July 15 lifts turning ?

More lodging/food/gas/air/hassles to cherry pick the buffet line. Establish community centric roots for family / town / hill
at much less cost, greater experience and family for years to come, independent of mega-passes/crowds/jongs/.05 backs lol...

Mega-Corporations - public and private have f-cked the common man experience. KMA.

You're kidding, right? They just lost Sun Valley and Snowbasin who ditched them and joined up with Epic. They haven't added anything in a couple years while losing resorts. If they were strong, they would get a few more Boyne and Alterra resorts as well as independents. Still being for sale just shows the slow death I talked about.

Don't get me wrong. I want it to survive. I'm probably buying one this year. I just don't see it surviving long unless it can either grow again or get cheaper.

They added Big Sky this year. Losing Sun Valley and Snowbasin isn't really that big of a deal, honestly never skied either of them and while I'm sure they are fine resorts, they weren't even on my list of places to visit. The MC seems to be becoming the IKON light. Lots of shared resorts.

Honest question.... do you think people with the Ikon Pass really get the sense that "locals" are pissed that their resort is getting more crowded? If they're not on TGR and they didn't happen to read the one or two articles about how the LCC resorts are more crowded, I'm willing to bet no one knows or cares.

Last season people in Jackson were pissed about the Mountain Collective crowding the place up. Moral of the story, locals are gonna bitch no matter what.

What is the percentage of western IKON pass holders coming east to cash in their days at Killington, the Bush, Loon, SR, the Loaf? What if next season the East goes the fuck off, and the West gets skunked, will y’all fly back and beater it up? Just curious.

anecdotal, but I was at the Bird last weekend for a couple days (bought day passes)..talking w a buddy who knows some of the folks in mgmt there and they say the numbers of ikon skier traffic isn't that high. like 10 percent or less.

I was definitely impressed w that mtn, if air quality wasn't such garbage, I think I would pack up the fam and head to SLC. even the die hard folks I know that love the diversity of sports are considering moving...but I digress.

did someone say ikon only is offering 4 days at SB/alta?
