Depends. What is your home mountain?

Thank you. Missed that page somehow. Was it direct-to-lift this year? Will it be next?

We were sent a crystal pass and an ikon pass.

Non crystal season pass ikonics had to get paper ticket at crystal.

Big Sky was direct to lift with ikon pass.

Have to think that was because you'd already bough the stall pass. I wonder how it's going to work if one just buys it from IKON and there's no particular way for them to discern whether or not one is local.

We are all part of the same Ikon hive next year.

    Resistance is futile!

My friends who bought Ikon (not Cyrstal passes) this year went to guest services and were given a Crystal season's pass so they can go direct to lift. I believe anyone with an Ikon pass could do this (but not positive), but they did not encourage you to do this so most just went to the ticket window to get a day ticket. I assume this will be the same next year when everyone will be buying an Ikon, not Crystal pass. Or, they just do away with the Crystal pass and Ikon pass is the Crystal seasons pass.

How do you know what product Mountain Collective will even offer next year for the comparison shop?

Seems like MC is like the red headed stepchild of passes now.

This is frustrating. ikon is already for sale and I am sure they are raising their prices in no time. I really want an A Basin pass though but am not sure if its worth it without some other resorts included like lovelands pass. Also don't want to buy an A Basin if it ends up on ikon anyways. I dont know what to dooooo.

I'm looking forward to information on MC for next year. I'm not likely to buy either Epic or Ikon since my resort is not unlimited on either.

I don't know. I'm assuming based on the 2018-19 MC resorts, and subtracting Snowbasin and Sun Valley since those are going Epic.

Seems the best way to resolve all of this is for both Epic and Ikon to cost twice as much and 40% less purchasers.

Associate mountains getting dragged into full ownership when they're strangled by revenue sharing schemes and being unable to sell their own passes in advance but now waiting for Ikonic's check.

Then when one of them goes tits up and leaves a substantial chunk of the countries ski areas closed and insolvent....

Meanwhile... it's great for Bunny. So no worries.

    Well put.

    Ikon has beaten Epic.

How do I know? Epic passes for next year have dropped and there isn't even a thread.

Maybe just me, but it seems like Alpental has been much less crowded this year with the Ikon....with parking filling up at Crystal a lot more. So many days with ski on/ski off with pretty decent ski conditions on a weekend this year.

Hard to imagine that they will all remain unscathed.

Just recalled a conversation I had with JK at the beginning of last season about the Red Mtn "membership/shareholder' scheme that was being pushed. His view was that the guy was nuts and that the future of the business was reciprocal passes and bigger ownership groups.

An argument for visiting the off-the-beaten path type places, paying for a lift ticket, buying a cheeseburger and beer and enjoying the mediocre but uncrowded skiing. If we all end up going to the mega-corp hills, buy the cheap multi-mountain passes, brown bag it, etc those places won't be around for long.

You just can't roll out of bed at 8 in Seattle (depending on location obviously), knock out a couple hours of skiing, have a beer and be home by lunch going to Crystal...and 5-7 days isn't enough. Hoping to enjoy more ski on/ski off padded seats next season.

I agree. I should never have called Alpental a "resort" in my previous comment, but I love that it's not a full Ikon member. With Crystal on Ikon and Stevens on Epic, it seems like Alpental has been forgotten.

It's owned by Boyne so will end up on Ikon eventually...

They know more of some things about you than you. Sorry to tinfoil here, but the smart operator in this conflict is collecting as much data as possible and using that as an asset to inflate their worth. That's your value, much more than even RE these days. It's not just them trying to figure out how to operate better, which it is and only should be. It's collecting data to trade, also. That's valuable stuff these days. Zuckerberg is really really rich.
