PS - Ironically, if the worse flu you ever got was the year you received the flu vaccine, it may have saved your life. The flu vaccine reduces the intensity of the flu as a primary goal, preventing you from ever getting it is the secondary goal.

...If he was over 49, according to the study. However, this post is still gold. More reinforcement for my choice to get vaccine.

What I want though is to hear more about sultry Panamanian voodoo priestesses. And pics.

You really think he's got a "sultry" woman?

75 flu deaths in California in people under 65 since October, compared to 14 all last flu season, hospitals running out of beds, doctors, nurses, and Tamiflu.

Why are carnivores so threatened by vegans?

I've never proselytized about veganism. Most vegans don't. It's usually carnivores freaking out. Casually mentioned you are vegan when relevant to the conversation and all of a sudden someone is yelling "bacon! Bacon! Stop telling me to stop eating bacon!".

Not relevant to the conversation. You don't eat the vaccine.

I don't drink soda pop and I am militant about it but if they grew the vaccine in a Diet Dew I'd still get the shot.

I thought this was a thread about flu vaccine. Isn't there a vegan thread where you guys can argue about that.
For the record I don't give a shit what someone else eats, as long as they don't post a picture of it--either before they eat it or after they've digested it. (We've had a couple of the latter, lately.)

Veganism is about much more than eating. You're thinking about vegetarians.

Why are you calling us "carnivores"?

Humans are omnivores, that shit just makes you look stupid

You've been proselytizing here about all manner of things since you became an ex pothead/fat body married to a Panamanian SJW. Before that you were an aggro pothead, Dan Sama acolyte who shirked personal responsibility and bragged incessantly about the amount and quality of cannabis you consumed. I'm not sure which version of you is worse, I'm leaning toward the former.

Perhaps this has been discussed here already, but what's the haps with the "universal" flu vaccine? If they can come up with one that substantially protects against all major strains, I'd be willing to bet that participation rates would skyrocket. I really do believe that the reason that most people don't bother is they feel it's a waste of time and just roll the dice with the odds. If manufacturers came out with something that could deliver on even 75%, that would be huge.

This is an interesting watch, even if it is for the layman like myself:

It would be fucking fantastic, that's what. It would save so many lives, so many resources, so much time, and so much money.

Like I said, with an R(0) value of about 2, if we had something that had a 60% seroconversion that covered all strains, and we could vaccinate 98% of the population and 90% of those people did get vaccinated... there would be no flu season.

On On Point on NPR this morning an expert said NIH spends 1 billion a year on HIV vaccines (a good thing) but only 31 million on flu vaccine so don't expect a universal flu vaccine anytime soon.

Edit...link to article he was probably referencing.

The problem is genetic drift in the flu virus (mutation is not quite correct). This makes it impossible to have a “universal” vaccine.

The other viruses arent as prone to this so can be globally targeted.

I'm not the one being an asshole. I've calmly explained my position and backed it up.

In response I've been called a fucking idiot and a moron, and my wife has been attacked.

Because of the t shirts I often see with pictures of bacon and the word carnivore on them?
