    Peoria, IL July 5-6

I have the distinct privilege of traveling to Peoria, Illinois for July 5-6 for work. Any mags in the area?

My post-work plans for the moment are basically to retreat to the hotel with DVDs and my laptop...

    -Karl

P.S. Any skiing in Peoria in July?

Water skiing maybe. There's a distinct lack of elevation variation in the midwest.
    It's 5 o'clock somewhere.

i'm about 200 miles north of peoria.. i don't think meeting me is worth the drive tho.. ...if i were you i would check out the bars near bradley university, or if you like to gamble there is a casino in east peoria.
what's so funny about peace, love, and understanding?

There's no gambling in my hometown, so maybe I'll check out the casino...

I'm actually flying in to Chicago on the 4th, driving down to Peoria on the 5th, then back to Chicago and flying out on the 6th. Mapquest shows it should be around 2 hrs between Chicago and Peoria -- realistic? Will the afternoon commute traffic from Peoria to Chicago be terrible?

    Thanks-

i would estimate the drive at 2 1/2 hours, assuming no major traffic problems. 11-3 are usually are the best daylight hours to be driving in/near chicago. i have no idea about traffic in/near peoria, but unless there is some highway construction to slow you down i would think an after lunch drive from peoria to chicago would be the best time to do it.

    Peoria...

If you like nudie bars... i suggest you try Big Al's.

Only been there once, and I wasn't sober, but I think it's right downtown.

as it's been said before, 2.5hrs is good estimate sans traffic. With traffic, who knows. Chicago recently got awarded second worst traffic behind LA. Woo!
