Does anybody know if Lake Louise will be selling the ski with a buddy two-for tickets at their kiosk at the base area? I recall last year you could get 2 tickets for a price comparable to the COSTCO discount tickets. Can't remember for sure but I think it was during the week only offer. Thanks

I think that was a spring only, maybe friday only promo.

Costco is about the same deal as buying the discount card.

Any insider info on opening dates? Going to be in the Banff area for the next couple of weeks and thought maybe I'd bring my skis.

Norquay has Nov 2 listed, with Louise and sunshine Nov 8. Any reason to doubt those?

Norquay just pushed their opening back to 9th Nov. We got some rain the other day which seems to have fucked things lower down, plus some warm daytime temps.

I would say always bring skis on the off chance, but it’s hard to gauge how they’ll all fare over next week. The lows are looking cold enough to blow snow, but with highs and lows floating either side of zero a small change in the weather send things either way.

Louise's shit lift arrangement really opens the door to fuck up their possible openings and it's a miracle it hasn't happened yet. They need to put back in the Eagle chair so there's potential to lap the upper half of Grizzly and download, because the snow-line at least stays below Glacier top starting November...

Potentially wrong thread, but anyone have inside line on when the new 6-pack at Louise will open? Website has the ominous message "set to open later this winter..." which could be November 15 or April 15...

Snowpack and terrain wise it it’ll be cleared to open around the same time as Top of the World, so a very vague guess would be some time late November (their top stations are right next to each other). Not sure where they’re at with the actual construction side of things though. Will report back if I hear anything.

From what I heard from a fairly reliable source today, is that the chair is ready once snow conditions allow. But we'll see I guess.

Everything is built; line is up; bottom chair shed still has tarps up on the bay doors; chairs sitting in the dirt.

At this rate west bowl isn't opening in this calendar year, plenty of time for them to finish up.

Any thoughts on Banff vs. Panorama for a mid December family trip this year? We've been to Banff a bunch of times but never Panorama. The on-hill accommodations at Pano are appealing but wondering if Sunshine and Lake Louise will be more reliable for early season conditions.

Yes. In mid December, Sunshine and Lake Louise are more reliable and will likely have more skiing. Pano is better as a day trip from Banff. Go check it out, and then decide if you want to spend a few days there.

Looks like your off to a slow start snow wise. Is that a correct assumption? I am heading up there this weekend. Should I bring my rocks skis?

I’d say it’s pretty average. Lots of good skiing out there. Plenty of rocks out there.

As a Rockies skier, I don’t really have a specific pair of rock skis. I just have quite a few pairs of different skis that I accept I’ll hit some rocks with.

You will hit lots of rocks. That's part of the experience of skiing in this area. Conditions were great at SSV the other day. Great chalk, loose, edgable and shredable and plenty of rocks, roots and tourists to navigate. We drink our coffee blk up here...

LL is skiing MUCH better than SSV. Still worth sking both, but suggest planning for more days at LL.

Free bus service is great. Sleep on the way to the hill, or more coffee, and nap or beer the way home

Starting a John Candy-style invasion for a couple days this week. Is LL still the preferred objective? Do I need to leave a "sorry, eh" sign on my car?

If only skiing 1 day, yes. jsut go to LL

If you are in the bow valley for a few days, I would ski SSV as well. Maybe quay for a 1/2 day (nice local vibe, limited terrain)
Wouldn’t bother with norquay. If skiing [emoji639] days, [emoji638] Louise, one sunshine. Louise’s backside aspects always stay nice when it’s cold like this.
