John Denver was a pretty good skier (keep in mind those are skinny, straight skis--probably 200cm). Awesome one-piece.

I can certainly see why he wasn't remembered for his disco career. Yikes.

He was the only guy in the celebrity ski race specials that looked like a decent skier. Actually had a bit of form in the gates

Doesn't surprise me, based on that video. Hands in front, upper/lower body separation, stay downhill, gets a little angulation. I woulda skied with him any day.

Hey he avoided the coastal lifestyle with a residence in Aspen during the salad days of resurgance of the 70's and 80's. Fart Bags, Skinny Skis, Lots of Blow and Hairspray while making music and millions
Like his music or not, we could all be so lucky to have that life as a superstar singer skier.
John Oates had a similar groove going for a while.

Yesterday was the 20 year anniversary of Sonny Bono Skiing into a tree @ Heavenly.

I never went with the longer Skis.
    I skied 190 Dynastar Acryglass from 17 to 30.

OK, that is pretty good. Almost makes me want to bust out the skinny skis. I like the one ski hop turns.

Yoko Ono called, she wants her sunglasses back.

Love John Denver, grew up listening to everything he put out. It was all JD and Johnny Cash.

I actually remember that day very well. I was working at a ski shop at the time and remember walking to my car with my first Helmet a RED Helmet. Although many would say it wouldn't have prevented Sonny Bono's death I distinctly remember that event turning helmets from a racer only thing to a general skier thing. I haven't skied without one since that day.

At least some of that is on Highlands, isn't it? Was it banned there, too? Looking at some of the skis I think this must have been shot in about 1985 (maybe later)? I have no clue what was allowed there back then. Except lots of cocaine. I'm pretty sure cocaine was allowed. The one-pieces sort of support that theory.

    And the music, I guess.

Shit, I was too young to understand what was behind all that 80's music, but it kind of makes sense, doesn't it?
