    Tour De Pinenuts

I mentioned this idea to Divegirl and also to other maggots. Who would be interested in joining me in a "Tour De Pinenuts"? I lived in the Pinenuts (the next mountain range east of Tahoe/Sierras) for 6 years and have been riding the Pinenuts for over 8 years. I took a day off from skiing (it is kind of fun to say that at the end of June) rode there today and got inspired. This could be a good option if Tahoe trails are still snow covered. The Pinenuts are only about a half an hour drive from the top of Kingsbury Grade.
There is a lot of rollercoaster style singletrack along with some interesting things to see. There is a hillside littered with calcite crystal formations, abondoned mine shafts, the remains of a mill site, desert flowers, lizards, snakes, deer, jack rabbits, Pinons, Sage, Rosehips and Thyme (actually I haven't seen thyme.) On previous rides I have even seen herds of wild horses. As most people will be out of town (I'll be in LA) or have other plans 4th of July weekend, I was thinking about the weekend (Saturday or Sunday) after the 4th. I'm also open to a midweek ride almost anytime as I'm off all summer. Please post or PM if you are interested in a Tour De Pinenuts.

I'm definitely interested -- have to break away from the family for a day, but I can do that.

You forgot to mention the burned out cars, paintball courses, and bullet riddled appliances!! Great riding though. There I was, climbing single track at Pinenuts, I come around a corner, and, Whammy, there's a guy who has his girl up on the hood of the jeep, both of 'me buck nekkid, doin' the wild thing. I'm pretty sure I scared the livin' daylights out of them as I rode by and yelled, "busted". Never thought I'd get nudity on a mt. bike ride. Gotta love Pinenuts!!

El Chupacabra, Let me know what day(s) will work best for you.

LIP, I've seen the burned out cars, and bullet riddled appliances too. However, the last time I was there it looked like they cleared (as in bulldozed) the paintball course. I'll be on the lookout for Jeep hood sex shows.

    Saturday's probably better for me.

I heard that the Pine Nuts gets really hot in summer... and we're forecast for 90 degree+ temps all next week. Early start?

    I could be convinced too.

Yeah, supposed to be hot as hell. I could definitely be down for an early ride. Maybe we can drag Punani along also. Also the early start will allow me to get back up to Hope Valley in time to toss empty beer cans at Shoe and lph.

If it is going to be 90+ an early start is necessary. How early? 7:00? 6:00?

How about a tentative date of Saturday, July 9th?

LIP, Telenater, Arty, Punani, will this work for you?

P.S. I'll have limited internet access for a week while I'm out of town, so my posts here may be infrequent until the 7th.

    bump?

Arty this, or playing on gnardenelles?

I'm very interested in biking this weekend, though biking around Luthor pass may be all tied up by traffic from the Death Ride....

    Sorry...no morning person here

I'll most likely be at Gnardanelles.

I'm going to have to cancel on this weekend -- Pine Nuts is too far for me to get in a quick ride, and my fiance's mom is coming in on Sunday afternoon from out of town (wedding countdown happening fast). Sorry -- will have to catch up with you next time.

I just returned from a week in LA.
Are the Pinenuts too hot to handle this weekend?
    Are the Gnardanelles the call?
I might still be doing some "dawn patrol" rides there to beat the heat.
    Post or PM if interested.

I'll probably be in SLT Saturday for riding. I'll be riding with some Telemarker friends and probably not dawn patrolling.
