Looks promising. Would love to see one in person. The wait is on.

I’m also a 12 with a 27.5 boot... why is that weird?

People like different fitting everyday shoes. I wear 12s from Lems and I wear 26.5 Salomons. But my foot only measures 274mm. I like the "barefoot" style shoes. I swim in them but I like it like that.
September is so far away.
Will there be early shipments for people that preorder?
TLDR; Ski faster. Quit breathing. Don't crash.
Is anyone still bummed these only have one climbing aid?
a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

When the Duke came out Marker had to make a revised climbing aid that was taller that then became stock.

I just came here to say I am incredibly stoked on this binding, and I've never ever seen it in person.
I'm fine with one riser too. Especially because it has a ski crampon slot that can be used on icy, steep skinners. Nice work Alka et al.
Now....what ski to mount it on??....

sproing!
I have a shim under the toe of my Radical 1.0's which reduces the effective angle of the climbing aids, and I still rarely use the higher angle one but it does happen. Might be ok with the Shifts since the ramp angle will be fine stock.
I'm planning on Shifts on Renegades (currently Guardians) and Hojis (currently Radical ST 1.0) and keeping my Cochise with STH916 for hardpack resort/family ski days. I don't do enough big vert days to justify a super light setup.
On a follow-up note... this doesn't mean I'm not willing to try them and prove myself wrong. There are certain skis where the idea of being able to ski them at the resort and BC certainly trumps any concerns of riser height. I've found myself leaning towards heavy or light these days and these would be sweet for something in the middle, weight wise.
Lee do you know if it's the midnight shift, morning shift or swing shift? I can never seem to catch those Vulcans

I honestly doubt we'd do either. Shaving weight on these would be super tough. Not impossible but significant enough weight to warrant a loss of three DIN settings doesn't seem like a valuable proposition. Oh and on the heavier 16 DIN version, we talked about that a ton internally but there are parameter limits for the binding itself that don't have to do with the main DIN spring that we were told eliminated that possibility. I may be in the dark on future plans but as of now, the SHIFT is the SHIFT with no long term plans to significantly alter the SHIFT. I mean hell, it's been the coolest binding I've ever used yet, so as of now, even I don't see much need to alter it.
It's interesting to note that the Kingpin came in at 13, the Tectons at 12 and the SHIFT at 13. I suspect there's some user modeling / actuarial models that determine that to be the sweet spot in terms of weight vs. market availability. Obviously a DIN of 10 would cut out too many potential users, for example, so the weight savings wouldn't be worth it, while going up to 16 is likely the inverse (the number of people who need > 13 DIN probably isn't worth the weight penalty).
Do you still ski Cody? I thought you were an African fisherman now?
