Was having trouble also, emailed Solomon and they responded with the below, found a shop not to far away from me that had stock “alpineglow” in Tahoe city, they had 3 pairs left on the shelf when I walked out, they might be willing to ship if they still have them, worth giving them a call.

I've contacted our warehouse to find out which retailers have ordered these crampons in. The below retailers will either have stock or would be able to order them in for you:

    STARTING GATE INC
    RECREATIONAL EQUIPMENT INC
    CRIPPLE CREEK BACKCOUNTRY
    MOMENT SKIS
    GOLDSMITHS BOARDHOUSE & SKI
    STARTING GATE INC
    JAGGED EDGE MTN GEAR
    FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN
    BERGS SKI SHOP

    BOBOS RENO SKI SHOP
    SKIBOOT RX
    AL'S SPORTING GOODS
PRO SKI SERVICE - NORTH BEND
    PRO SKI SERVICE - SEATTLE

So I got to see a Shift in the wild yesterday, and I can see where it needs another riser level ... LOWER ... but that's just me ;-)

I put mine to use touring Saturday and inbounds Sunday.

My 110 brakes on 108 kartels released once on the approach but I was admittedly acting like a fool. I took a steep ascent and feel like they did fine with the one riser. The toe and heel pieces were pretty packed with snow but no icing issues.

Inbounds they feel as stable as my wardens and I haven’t noticed any power transmission issues. I didn’t eject at on any of the smaller side hits.

I’m liking the new setup so far

Use the 'Search Thread' function at the top of this page - the template's in here somewhere.

And be sure to read all of the nuanced comments about how much to offset the fifth hole. Helpful hint: @lucknau's iteration seems to have the most traction.

There is no official here. There is only amateur. This is the one you seek.

Had this happen once. Went to a shop to double check what was happening. They fixed it, no issue since then.

1)The biggest question I still hear very little talk about is if the single riser setting is acceptable for uphill travel?
My entire uphill travel career has involved a series of different bindings and they all had multiple settings. This seems like the biggest question mark on this binding.

2)Does anyone know if they plan to make changes to the binding for next season?

There is a thread on here that will answer all your questions. You should read it. PS you just posted in it.

I broke my toe piece today. Was an easy up-down tour, nothing rowdy. Not sure how it happened (just noticed it tonight packing for a long weekend trip). Looks like the plastic casing just broke apart there.

I agree. The others wouldn’t come close. Maybe there’s a reason why they no question warranties the AFD’s that a consumer broke....

Have around 4 tours on the shift now and mostly good things to say about them skiing. Not bad touring either with one exception: during a multi stop BC road trip where the skis and bindings spent each night in the roof box, both toe pieces froze such that I could not open the wings to engage the tour mode. Temps were about 0F. I cleaned all the ice everywhere I could reach with a multi tool and nothing improved. I noticed that the piston that moves in and out was not fully compressing so I concluded that there was ice build up internally. If I had some hot coffee I would have poured some on the binding. I didn’t. So I pissed on the binding and sure enough, they regained full touring function almost immediately.

Lessons learned: bring something to de-ice binding internals, bring your skis inside the night before you tour, or be willing to piss on your bindings.

Curious if anyone else has had this problem?

    Replacing heel risers

    Hello,

After sorting out the releasing brakes issue, the only concern seems to be the 1 level heel riser. Is the current riser / heel module changeable so it would be possible to replace it with an Salomon/aftermarket piece that enables 2 riser levels (if those are released)

just get over it or buy a different binding. expedition bindings don't even have any adjustable heel riser settings and people make it work just fine.

    or make your own.
