What other binding uses the Shift nubbin? Never seen another.

I’ve seen it in kids’ bindings.

finally got my shifts mounted on my Billy Goats.

They are set up for my Atomic Ultra 130 XTD, can I use them straight up for my Atomic Ultra 130s? they are the same length of shell. Fingers crossed with the snow next week.

Maybe. Are they both Gripwalk soled versions? The first year XTD was WTR and older Ultra 130s were Alpine soles.

Even if they are both gripwalk, you should def check the 130s stepped into the binding before skiing it. Shifts are finnicky to adjustments.

3 year old Ultra 130s and brand new XTD, so different soles. hmmm might not risk it then, will just use the new boots with the billy goats.

    thanks.

I mean...it's a few turns of a screw on the AFD. Having shifts, one should learn to adjust an AFD as it is known to slip.

I skied mine at Mt Rose for the first time today and they were great. I set the forward pressure when I mounted them, and the toe height was good w/o any adjustment. Checked at lunch and after skiing and they were still good.

I’d been in nothing but tele gear for 25 years and frame bindings for only 2, so I’m a new user. They ski great.

Yup, been in mine for 3 years and I love em. Won’t ever buy a traditional alpine binders again; no need. They do it all!

ok that simple, I just thought these had to be set up so well to actually work well!

anyone have the specs on the Shift Toe Lug Screw? Was going to mount my replacement bindings this morning and only 1 in the box. Emailed skimo.co to see if they have any to sell. But wondering if I can hack a replacement from home depot or something. Talking about this: https://photos.app.goo.gl/jUKN3x88qgvzs9yV8

It's not a standard industrial part although a handy machinist could knock one up. For a temporary fix I'd look to stack two washers, with the diameter and thickness of the lower/smaller one being the important one.

If it was missing in the box then just get your supplying retailer to send you one - they can liberate one from a stock binding then replace the part from Amer. Or any decent Shift retailer should have them as it was obvious from the launch of the Shift that some would go astray or get lost by people using inserts etc. It's part no. L40751100+.

I've got them in stock but postage from the UK will be a couple of weeks at this time of the year.

^^^contacting the retailer was the first thing I did, backcounty dot com told be to contact salomon because nothing bc could do. This is partly my fault, because I bought them last spring and tossed them on the shelf and just now going to mount them before needing them. Plus buying from bc.

Thanks for the part number and washer idea.

ETA: bc dot com did take care of the situation. Had better luck emailing than using the chat, and it took >month.

I found a post about this a few pages back, but figured I'd bump the topic in case anyone else is running into it as well: I'm also having the problem of the toe piece not staying locked in tour mode. First day on them was ok, but the subsequent two days I had to lock it in with a ski strap to avoid the toe popping out constantly while skinning. It *seemed* to get worse with the cold- I was able to get it to lock overnight in my house, and right after getting out of the car, but 30m later it wouldn't stay locked at all.

At least it held if I got the ski strap buckle right underneath the lever ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They do ski downhill great, and I just opened a case with Salomon so here's hoping I'm able to get a replacement. Not stoked about having to pull the binders off of a new ski with 4 days on them, though.

Are you making sure you get the toe lever all the way up to the second click?

I came here to ask the same thing. I’ve skied these 3 days this year and popped out on moderate side slope/kick stepping multiple(6-7) times already, once on a 40 degree slope above a lot of rocks and ice. Almost tossed them off the mtn right then.

Lost confidence in touring on these, coming from years on the G3 Ion which I’ve never released a toe while touring, even while kicking on bullet proof ice. Sad to say these aren’t worth the downhill performance for me.

And yes, toe is locked out but it doesn’t have a solid click like other tech toes.

I think some toes just missed the mark during production and will slip out of locked mode, saw it in two friend's setups where they had to take them in and get em replaced.

Definitely would recommend taking them on a mellow first tour out with them to make sure you didn't get a dud toe piece.

Yep, I'm pulling up to the second click, until the arrows are aligned. Fair question though, you have to pull pretty hard.

I bought them straight from Salomon so here's hoping I'm able to get a replacement relatively quickly. Good to hear some folks are able to get them swapped out.

Shift 13 with 110mm breaks on Corvus Freebird, 107 waist, I could not get the shop to mount a narrower break.
Skied these a few days on piste, playing with the edge of the trail where the snow slopes steeply, so pretty high edge angle to turn back up the slope.
I could swear I can feel my inside ski catch on the break, anyone experience this?
    Not a comfortable feeling.
The shift breaks certainly don’t fold up as tight and close to the ski as my KingPins or Pivots.

    Break in up/locked position

Doubtful. If you do some quick trigonometry you can figure out the edge angle for that thing to drag. Just eyeballing measurements it'd be like 80*...

The 110 brake is like 116mm so I if the 100 is 106 or something, it would have been a better fit.
Anyone know the real size of the 100 brake ?
