Sounds very hipster to be a garlic 'purist'.
That being said, I don't do pre minced or chopped garlic in jars, I just would rather not peel it.

From an article this week about a solid food cart:

""We've worked really hard to earn those titles," Purtell said. "Jose's wife, Noemi, would not let us cut any corners on her recipes, everything had to be super authentic and completely from scratch. She wouldn't even let us get pre-peeled garlic. She tasted it and said 'Nope. Not as good.'"

hipster? please. i've been mistaken for a deadhead, a cop, a methhead, a straight male prostitute, a gay male prostitute, a communist, a socialist, a fascist and a genius.

    but NEVER a hipster.

it's not even close. it invariably has a terrible extra smell and flavor. i'm a garlic addict. there is no such thing as too much in my house.

I'll have to try that peeler.
Peeling garlic gives me flashbacks of my catering days, where we would have to peel and chop entire cases of garlic.

It works well IMO. Use the heel of your hand and short back & forth rolls with a fair amount of pressure and those skins will be off in no time.

The first person's review has some good points.

Having your dogs freak out when you come home from work like you are the greatest person on the planet. Which to them you are.
I swear both my dogs smile ear to ear when they hear the garage door open.
    That's some good shit.
