Huh? Skiing at Alta/Bird, pales in comparison to skiing Kmart on any given weekend. Do you even ski ice, bro?

Ice is for bourbon, not skiing.

His last report from your area was a week ago, so pre-recent storm. From his posts, seems like he's always looking for more "observers" to train. I would have pinged him at Christmas, but the snowpack was weak to non-existant. I have had some nice days up that canyon in prior years, fuckin white knuckle driving when it's snowing or snow on the road + it closes periodically.
only takes most people about 15 minutes of maynerd g krebs fore theyre done

So he's been banished to S. Oootah? He seems to be the only one providing reports from down yonder. Eh, low tide this season. There are zillions of sledders down there, more than skiers. I recall filing a report ~15 yrs ago after cracking a slope, sent it to the LSAFC...moab, there was no SW UT region (must not have existed), just barren wasteland, down wind-ers you know (visualize house shreding from atomic wind).

Yesterday at about 8:45 AM my partner and I were skinning up from Spruces to the Mill D North trail. Lots of Dawn Patrollers were returning about that time. As we passed through the cabins 2 DPers skied down past us. One was a woman with an inflated air bag. There are no reports of a skier caught in an avalanche in Mill D North on today's UAC Observations web page. Anyone know what happened? Maybe (hopefully) it was an accidental inflation.

We continued up and skied a few laps on Weathering Heights. It was about the most tracked up I've ever seen it, and there were lots of rock and bush problems on the last slope above the trail. We should have been there at dawn or the day before!

Still inflated on the way down? Must've been accidental. You'd for sure deflate to ski out no?

Yeah, but you’d think you’d deflate it for the ski out even if it was an accident. Maybe she uses it as her pseudo helmet

Buzz killer at Alta today, 65 yo male hiking into Devils Castle suffered a heart attack. Patrol got to him fast and despite their heroic efforts he passed away. That's the third heart attack I have witnessed at Alta, two did not make it, one did and that one patrol deserves all the credit. Ski every run like its your last one...

This is actually a good friend of mines buddy. Interesting story. My buddy in 2014 had a heart attack waiting in line for the castle. The man who passed today was with him when it happened and likely helped save his life. My buddy was at Alta today, but not with the deceased at the time. RIP.

Ron Ulrich is a GMD legend. He and his buddy have been chasing storms from the Southeast for decades. Yesterday was the best day of my season until I heard of his passing. If it's any consolation to the rescuers, his life was quite the party. I'd personally be alright with a painless passing underneath the Devil's Castle on a bluebird pow day.

There will always be a seat at table 31 for ya.
