Guys look, yell at me all you want, but you have to accept that this is part of the norm across Western N.A. now.

Every area is going to experience wild variation in seasons. Colorado this year, NW/B.C. the next. We're all going to have to adapt.

If you want pow all season long, you're going to have to hunt for it. That means travel is inevitable.

So we didn’t cancel and made the best of our week. Hit solisunday and was treated to some fast groomers, which my boys liked. Watched some panthers beat the packers and all was good. Monday was surprisingly fun at Alta using our wasatch pass benefit. Again lapped groomers all day and kids were pumped. Tuesday morning Brighton was not too hot. Was actually congested for the amount of runs open. Oh well. Headed back down to solitude for a great afternoon of hitting “jumps”off moonbeam. Boys have the go pro footage to prove it. Wednesday had a cream puff day of deer valley. Again just lapped groomers and watched the snow fall as we packed up. Met the dog and the montage and apres fondue.
While not a local, the was the 6th trip in 11 months for the family and it was totally proof that a bad day of skiing is better then a good day of work.
Thanks for all the intel prior to coming out about bailing or not. Basically, have our solitude family pass paid for already so I’m int the money for the rest of the season.

My wife and I lived in NC as well and had season passes to Alta for 2 seasons. We decided a couple years ago to pack our bags and move to Utah. Best decision ever, haven't looked back once.

I landed back in SLC from a business trip tonight and watched all the giddy tourists schlepping their gear over to the rental car counter. I hope I never take for granted this place. Even when the tide is low.

Nice, reminds me of when my dad would fly me out from the ATL to experience the grandeur of the Wastach. The South Will Rise Again!

They told us when we moved here that people come for the winter and stay fit the summer. It’s pretty spot on. I’ve never lived anywhere with the amazing grandeur so close and diverse.

Agree. The variety of outdoor activities in the warm months is far more diverse. Hiking, camping, backpacking, mtn biking, climbing, on and on. Sure the winters are fun, but Utah kicks ass when it's warm.

Your guys are killing me. Of course we think of moving. Honestly though we have a good thing going in NC also. 32 straight winters in the Wasatch and I'm happy my sons love them as well.

Unfortunately I am making the move back east in 2018. It's been a great run and I will continue to buy season passes.

Come for the winters, bail to the desert when the winter takes a sabattical. If the current models hold up I'll be tuning up the bikes soon.

PSA: As I am officially out for most if not all of this season, it is going to go off in the Wasatch guaranteed. I don't care what the models show, they lie. Get in shape, stockpile days off, get your gear ready to go, it's gonna be ON.

Has anyone ridden Moab this week? How are the trails doing down that way.

I made some bold statements yesterday, so I went up on of the Cottonwoods to see if things turned around after the last diggety dank dump. Rode the lift with a nice gent from down south, he said he was going to try some cross country skiing. I let him onto the secret resort up the other canyon. Then I bounced for the good, never leave good snow to find good snow they say, I guess the opposite is true too.

It was nicer today, but Harper's was a much better call than Harper's East. Stixlife, yo.
