Yeah saw that. Rough year for the rich kids I guess. They'll weather this one I imagine.

Damn night skiing in April... I do like skiing under the lights, but once night skiing closed at my home mountain, the days getting longer became more noticeable. The evening light showering the mountain side or the extra help with visibility in a storm was nice. Of course you get a couple of hours of darkness as well.

I also prefer getting high close to sunset when skiing (or sunrise with a dawn patrol). The landscape transforms into a painting with happy little trees.

Groomers were surprisingly very good this afternoon. Dumping in LCC the couple hours I was up there. 4" or so of dense snow / graupel. Basically every gate that could be closed was closed, so I didn't venture off piste

Dust on crust is putting it mildly. That friday-saturday rain event left everywhere with a thick slick crust.

Windward slopes were close to impossible to get up. Michigan City is a skating rink. North facing low angle was the name of the game. Still a fun day out there

Forecast looks cold tonight and not warming up much tomorrow. ..would my best bet for snow getting soft be snowbird or snow basin?

Thanks, checked it out today, not much snow at the resort and windy. So skinned up from highway. Nice and scenic.

I see Alta is already selling season tickets, this was always an August event in the past. Left regular season pass at $999 but raised senior pass 65-79 by $50 to $699. Second year in a row they added $50 to that pass.

I'll bet basin got decimated by the rain event. Pow mow ain't far from them and they closed for the season this weekend due to the rain opening all the creeks. I'd say snowbird. Not a ton of low angle there though.

Basin skied well today. They do not have the issue with creeks in the runouts to lifts that Pow Mow has. Strawberry is closed, but pretty much everything else is open. A few brown spots as would be expected off John Paul & Wildcat, but the whole Needles/Middle bowl area was creamy & rode surprisingly fast.

^^^yes, was surprisingly fun at snowbasin today. New snow smoothed everything out and got enough sun to get soft. Nobody there. Lower mtn is fubar other than the groomed.

Nice and quiet day out there. Maybird not be the best option when you have limited time, but I was able to sneak in a couple quality laps and the scenery never disappoints up there.

Also, used my ski crampons for the first time so stoked on that!

Gonna be at alta on Friday on new 189 goats. Let me know if u want to try to get some turns in.
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Nice dude! What time were you up there? I think I dropped in my first lap around 445-5. Found that the snow was much better than expected.

And don't y'all worry, I'm heading out of town for ten days tonight. Get some!

hahaha yea I have no idea what all the names are called up there, just a few that I'm certain of and the general area of the rest.
This was a line that was eastish facing and a few to skiers left of granny's (but not pictured in your photo). I think bronco is a few to skiers right of granny's and northish facing, but I could be wrong....

Got up in the god's lawnmower area this morning. snow pack is pretty saturated, surface snow was moving on the steep slopes. it was wet but the skiing was good. Snow continued to dry out through the day as the temps slowly dropped. I bet tomorrow's gonna be good

Looks like tomorrow may be my last lift accessed powder day for the year. Hoping for a good time at Solitude.

Is it just me or are resorts selling next season passes way earlier this year?
