I passed 7-11 at about 8:05. Still probably 1 mile from the mouth of LCC. Damn. Now I’m just praying they hold backside for an hour or 2.

Thought about heading up this morning for a couple backsides and then saw the traffic from 9400 backed up all the way to the wasatch light. No thanks.

if anyone is up later on in the day I'd love to hear if the sun ever comes out... nothing crusty S facing as of now but that could change
I pulled into the Butler TH @ 8:15 no issues; plenty of open spots. Lapped NE facing shot into Butler Basin for 3 hours. Tits deep. Sun was in and out, more in till 2:15 or so. No noticeable dampness on the S facing on the way out. Not much in the way of evidence for avy cycle with the storm; just some new snow sluffing over cliff bands. Had clear views up to top of Gobblers and Raymond and no crowns visible. Corni (plural of cornice) everywhere though.

It was weird. Road was open but not moving, but once we started moving it was smooth sailing. Made it in line right as lifts started spinning. Warm up lap down jitterbug was nice, fresh tracks down backside was even better. No pics but it was a good day even though they never opened the shoulder.

Was good at Alta today. I'm sure not as good as Sunday. Out of 11 runs I skied 2 that weren't untracked. Patsey held the goods. Backside was great while it lasted. I left my house near 1300e 11400s at 8am. In wildcat lot by 9am. Not great but not horrible.

Yesterday was better and the backside was deep today. It was good early great trip
Can you guess the name of the run I skied 3 times today because it was my favorite of so many
Traverse to the rubber mats then left along the traverse to a high mound looking down there were 3 ski tracks to follow into the trees I chose the middle one steep narrow the whole way to a cliff I skied right to an opening than down to the rope tow
Also bibbys eat up the crud and float and turn on a dime in the trees

"The Utah Senate gave the final green light Thursday to a bill that could lead to creating more toll roads throughout the state. It voted 26-0 to agree to House amendments to SB71, and sent it to Gov. Gary Herbert for his possible signature. The bill allows use of newer high-tech electronic tolling methods. That could include systems with cameras that read license plates, deduct toll amounts from online accounts set up by drivers, or send bills to car owners’ homes.

Senate President Wayne Niederhauser, R-Sandy, sponsored the bill especially to enable tolling to reduce crowding in Little Cottonwood Canyon in his district, when anticipated construction adds a lane there in 2020 or so. “It incentivizes car pooling or taking a bus,” he said."

Sounds like, other than LCC, these assholes don't even care about toll roads, but boy howdy are they gonna implement one up LCC. How will that help them get out during avy closures? Not sure it will make a lick of difference...

It won't do shit. If you implemented it intelligently it might help some, but let's be realistic here. The easiest solution to Mr. Niederhauser's problem would be to put a traffic light, possibly with automated bollards, at his cross street to keep access open for residents. I'd be happy to spend public money on that. The real issue really is control work closures. Snowsheds from Gate B to Alta would fix that. I'd even be OK with a toll if it were used to fund them.

These fuckwits also want to put Trump's name on the National Parks Highway. Fucking hell....

Yup. If they can figure out a variable rate toll system based on congestion AND occupancy, mayyybe I can get on board. But a weekday with no new snow in a week when the canyon is a ghost town? Screw em.

I would 100% support a toll if it paid for snowsheds. But it will just get spent on some stupid shit that doesn't benefit canyon users at all.
