Roll call starts when they announce what time the road is closing. Blankets, pillows, change of clothes, food in the truck and a certified letter from my Dr that I had a vasectomy.

I demoed the TECH TALK JONG! pro model this spring and their performance was unparalleled which is good because I ski in a wedge most of the time - bendtheski, 2011

Bike to the end of the road in city creek, follow "trail" for awhile then gain the western ridge to the summit. get ready to bushwack!

people also attack it from Emmigration canyon, head towards lookout peak

let me know when you wanna tackle that, I've been wanting to ski grandview for awhile, but its a hard peak to get people fired up about haha

I pity you both. PC and the canyons are a ton of fun, good form on the fake bravado though

yo Californiagrown, PCMR and the canyons are a blast. A little insider tip for lunch, ski down to main street. the ski run takes you right to the high west distillery and davanza's pizza. High west distillery is on the expensive side, but they make some amazing drinks. Davanza's is a local classic, your girlfriend probably ate there way too much in high school. Both are cheaper than paying $20 for a personal pizza at the Vail Cafeterias.
    .
Thaynes, Jupiter, McConkey's, dreamcatcher, 9990, peak 5 and super condor. I'd stick to those lifts. good BC access off 9990, but most of the terrain you access are a bunch of people killer slide paths so give them respect. I don't know about the claim that the PC ridgeline rivals the rest of the wastach, but its definitely some fun skiing. that dude obviously doesn't get out much

I'm planning on being at Solitude on Saturday. If I can get there. Flight gets in late Friday night and I'm staying in in SLC. Road closures, traffic, crowded resorts!

The crowds i'm not worried about but the road closing is something I had not really thought about. Feel like I might encounter some difficulties. I'm not stressing though, I got Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to figure it out.

It ain't fake, I stand by my opinion. You may feel otherwise, but that's what opinions are about.

On another note, got a text from a buddy this evening he has a room at the Cliff Friday and Saturday, invited me up. No traffic fighting for me, c'mon road closure!

I've skied Grandview a number of times. Favored approach in winter is from Pinecrest. Parking is an issue. Then, you either have to trudge back after the ski, continue on to Mueller park in Bountiful or continue out City Creek(I've used roller blades). It sees a lot of wind and a lot of snow machines.
In spring, bike up City Creek. There are a number of options depending on what time you start, coverage and timing. Corn can be excellent. I like Burro peak and Cottonwood gulch.
Good low elevation snow is needed for approaches and exits.

I'm coming in to lcc next week. Is there anywhere I can park my van near there? If not can I park at the bottom and hitch? Do people still pick up hitchers there?

I've done the Pincrest approach once. of note was the descent down north avy path off the west end of the lookout mtn ridge proper. twas damn good snow all the way down to (upper) city creek canyon. skinned up to the [sub] ridge that splits (upper) city creek cyn and city creek meadows. our stoke was soon crushed at the sight of at least 2 dozen sledders buzzing all over the Grandview east bowl/meadows area and Powderbirds hot lapping "grand slam"(?). made it up to Hardscrabble ridge (great western trail). plenty of options that for sure. would be good to get back in there once more.

remember reading this guy's adventure a couple years back http://wasatchsolo.blogspot.com/2013...ek-canyon.html

Fingers crossed for everyone this upcoming weekend. Git Sum.

Holiday crowd question... I ordinarily avoid holidays like anal herpes, but given wife's work situation and damn wiener kids, may be forced to hit LCC long weekend over Easter. How wretched are crowds usually with Easter, spring break , etc. Manageable?

I feel like Easter is usually a good day to ski if you aren't going to church / hiding eggs / finding eggs / eating rabbit stew or whatever.

Yeah , I assume Easter itself will be fine, more concerned about the Fri/Sat before it. I always avoid travelling t days so I have zero frame of reference here. Wanted to come in the Thursday the week before but looks like that's not in the cards

There's a SNOTEL on Lookout Peak which can give you a pretty good idea of what to expect @ low elevation.

bobMc is correct, it's pretty fvcking bad. I literally race to the Forest Svc gate when at ParkCanyonWest and after a day of touring BCC or Millcreek, try to arrange it so I don't have to ride a lift again when returning. The PC bus system helps. Life's too short to ski hardpack and risk getting hit by a heelside turn inbounds (which has happened to me there, we smacked helmets hard, glad I wear one lift skiing, even if it's only to GTF out of there--thread drift).

When the fuck did I say anything about steep? I like skiing Deer Valley, I don't like Park City. Sorry if it offends you for some reason. I'm kinda confused as to who is coming off as the bro brah?
