To be clear you've been saying for pages that because gun violence/death numbers over the course of 3/4 of 2017 are down compared to the entire year of 2016 that we should do nothing. If that's not what you meant then you need to think about how you convey your viewpoint here.

I've actually posted a few times Im fine with a AWB, but that is a dream. It would make more sense to classify them as Class 3. There is a better chance of getting that done.

So if gear is at fault and banning the tool is the solution, why ban what was on that room? They kill the smallest number. Pistols are the weapon used in the vast majority of gun crime. I'm not arguing to ban pistols, but I am questioning what seems like a knee jerk.

In Chile, you cannot own a hunting rifle. It goes by caliber. That's why 380 is popular over seas. But there is not much hunting, so we cannot compare to other countries.

We can debate what is an offensive vs defensive vs hunting vs toy until the cows come home. Personally, I've been telling people that something like this was going to happen at a ball game or something, specifically, the last yr. only I though it would be ISIS.

The number killed doesn't seem to be the issue. It's the satisfaction of doing something in response to so many people losing their lives. We have to do something while it is fresh, and that would be outlawing the items in that room.

Making slide/crank/bump class 3 is fine. Of course one can bump fire without those modifications... Just harder and even less accurate/reliable.

And I am fine with a firearm education card, but I don't think it will make a big difference... Most gun deaths are the result of gangs/drug criminals or suicide. Education is not going to make an impact there and those who illegally acquire weapons won't need a card. It might prevent a few accidents.

I am not ok with charging for it any more than I am with charging for voter registration. (charge for a driver's license, but driving is not a constitutional right) we limit free speech but we don't charge for it. People are entitled to free legal defense.

Maybe I wasn't clear but here's what I actually wrote, convenient that you left the handgun and bolt action words off. I'm in no way in support of banning bolt action rifles nor do I want hand guns banned. If banning hand guns is the compromise, I don't have that much of an attachment to them. Rifles that I hunt with is another story. I will be very clear this time-I DO NOT SUPPORT an all out firearm ban. I DO support tighter regulations as a compromise as our current system is severely fucked.

Keeping long guns legal is reasonable. Semi-auto with a capacity cap is reasonable. I don't even have an issue assault-style rifles but wouldn't mind seeing them go simply because of the douches they seem to attract. Hand guns have to go if any real dent in gun violence is to be made.

I'm a gun owner-I own a number of guns. I would be fine passing education classes, training, registering them, and placing liability insurance on them. Those thing don't infringe my rights to own the guns.

While I get what you're saying regarding a suggested ban on handguns means 'all guns' to those that only have handguns, but the two are just not the same.

I want to get across that America has a gun problem. If we can get to that, then we can talk about solutions.
