Busy weekend coming up and bachelor will provide. 4" of dust on ice. Skiable but taxing on the steeper places. Groomers were the ticket. More fluff on the way.

Hmmm....a few of us have considered placing road closure signs at the bottom of Century Dr. early Sat. morning. If I remember it was bobby that cooked up that one.

IMO Hoodoo is a way better bet than dealing with the hoards at Bachelor or Hood this weekend. My buddy and I made a last minute decision to drive out to Baker city after work today.

Anthony Lakes? Please report back after the weekend! Long drive from this side of the cascades, I doubt you'll be giving up any "secrets" if you strike gold this weekend

Hoodoo is the place on holidays. Skibro said it was 6" of dust on crust & ski well yesterday.

Yeah it's a long haul. Got to drive to BFE and then to BFE again. Not really a holiday destination for most folks. Highs are supposed to be in the teens.

There's a big gold nugget on display at the bank. Wonder if anyone has ever tried a heist.

I was thinking the same thing. I’ve never seen HRM and Heather chair shutting down while MHEX is spinning. Telemetry is indicating the wind is blowing from the west and yet all the lifts at Tline is running. I have to give Meadows the benefit of doubt ...something strange is going on with this wind storm. I know we all think we are experts based on couple of telemetry readings but they don't tell all the story apparently.

I am just happy we are finally getting some snow ...Monday and Tuesday looks promising. Woot!

I spent 3 years as a lift op at MHM. When there was a S or E wind it would effect the lifts more than a W wind...

T-Line is showing a NE wind @ 35* at Palmer, E wind @ 84* at the lodge, while Meadows is now @ 297* WNW.
It must be an E wind which terrain is effecting, showing WNW at top of MHX

Yes, way too much this year. And it's been a lean year...make you go hmmmm...
I was at MHM before HSQ's, so I am not up to date on wind effecting HSQ's.
I'd assume with a larger surface area on the HSQ's chair, it wouldn't take as much wind as a FGD.

It is only MHX, but it is almost walk-on laps. Not deep, but if you follow the wind... [emoji16]

I told the boss to fuck himself today. So he told me to get out...
    Glad I did

ETA, it is really blowing. If it’s worse tomorrow, I doubt even MHX will be rolling. It might be blue with load spacing every other chair

I was planning on going up Saturday, but if the forecast holds true, it will be a clusterfuck like the 50th B-Day party. It has to be a strange wind for HRM to be shut down

When I ran HRM in the mid to late 1980's, it was usually an E wind that effected HRM the most. Live and learn...

    https://www.skihood.com/about-us/mea...tions-saturday

Okay - maybe we’ve been doing too many snow dances! The current forecast would make Saturday the storm of the season - with high winds and the possibility of one to two feet of snow in a 24 hour period. That’s going to be awesome for our season (and for building up the Cascade snowpack) but for tomorrow, let’s say we expect it to be gnarly.

We love the snow - and we want to make sure that if you are venturing to the mountain you are prepared for the weather. First and foremost, make sure you have traction devices - adequate snow tires or chains, and if you have chains that you put them on before you need them at the designated chain up areas. You should fill up your tank before heading up the mountain, throw in a couple of blankets along with your winter gear and a shovel could also be a useful tool. With over a foot of snow falling throughout the day tomorrow, shoveling will be needed to extricate you from your snow bank.

Now about those winds - they are westerly and that tends to affect our lifts more than the normal prevailing winds. Today the westerlies put Shooting Star and Hood River Express on standby, along with our upper lifts Vista and Cascade. We are operating with Mt. Hood Express, Easy Rider, Buttercup and the Ballroom Carpet. Tomorrow’s forecast winds are stronger than today, and there’s a possibility we will have even less lifts to offer because of it.

We will do everything we can to ready the resort and operate whatever lifts we can, but only within the margin so safety for our guests. We advise you check our conditions page in the morning (before you head to the mountain) and be aware that this storm will affect lift operations. While we may have a status of a lift standing by, we really won’t know whether it will operate until 9 AM. And the storm may actually intensify during the day meaning lifts that we get open in the morning could be placed on standby as the day progresses.

We have postponed our weekend youth program buses for Saturday (SnoBlasters, Trailblazers and high school) out of precaution. We hate to do that based on forecast, but feel it is appropriate under these circumstances.

And as always, know that the weather does change and forecasts are just that a forecast. We’re geared up for a great day regardless of what the weather brings.
