Yesterday was still too icy up high to justify a tour. Top of the mile was starting to soften up in the after noon and I took a lap out west of the resort but kinda crappy skiing out there. Pretty fun on the groom and on skier packed trails though. Fun in the sun and great views.

At this time Willamette Pass is experiencing record warmth and our snow pack has diminished to a low level. Operations are suspended until winter weather returns and provides the needed snow for safe skiing and snowboarding.

Can't imagine Ski Bowl can open. Maybe after some snow Sunday/Monday. How much dirt was there at Timberline yesterday? Last Sunday near Wyeast it was getting muddy, but maybe they were able to move some snow around.
Damn shame, throwing away a perfectly good white boy like that

the kinder class i help at is studying the olympics and all know i LOVE snowboarding. the teacher showed them some olympic ski and snowboard footage and they were really excited. tomorrow i'm taking my board and basic gear and also the boy's skis and stuff. i have seen no signs of snowriding at this school. the teacher is really excited. maybe one of the stickers on the boy's skis will elicit a "what's bbi16?"

anybody got any good anti-skier jokes?

Skibowl's web site said they're open Sat/Sun. By the looks of the web cam, they'll need at least 8" at the base to cover the dirt.

Groomers were ok but the headwalls had thin spots in places. Forget any tree skiing.

    Ski bowl yesterday
Brutal. Part of the appeal to the Fusion Pass was the opportunity to hit Ski Bowl...I'm wondering if the upper bowl will ever be worthwhile this year. Did Meadows last year and grew frustrated with the weekend shitshow, but for the terrain and more consistency with snow, I'm going to have to transition back to Meadows next year. I had not skied Timberline much since racing back in the 90s and had forgotten just how flat it is there.

I've heard about "upside-down" ski areas, but had never actually seen a photo of one until now, so thanks!

Thanks for a early morning laugh. Going up to rail ice & get a tan w/ beer on the deck. I'll try not to spill any as that would be alcohol abuse.

Soft cord first few runs then, the horde desended upon the hill. Scraped that groom down to a hard polished finish. Lordy it was fast on an edge.

i did have another fuckhead riding parallel and above me take a 90 degree turn right into my lap. i got a bad feeling right before it happened and braced or it would have been worse. i pushed him off me and somehow neither of us went down.
