If anyone is familiar with Monroe/Alpine, on Sunday, I saw the aftermath of a car that lost it on the frost accumulation on Alpine Road and ended up in one of the farm fields below the road. I was coming down Alpine pretty hot ... and was pretty glad I put my studs on before Thanksgiving as I passed by the crashed subie ...
Yea most of our pastures are bordered by 100 year old forest. The SW corners of them don't get much sun (if any) this time of year.

Roads have been ugly out here also. We have been maintaining roads and getting a lot of gravel-> one truck headed over here ended up in the ditch Monday morning.

Weather is looking up mid-next-week. As of right now, a moderate amount of good, cold/dry snow heading our way on Tuesday afternoon.

It better. Earlier models had snow as early as tonight with a good dump this weekend, then it pushed. Then it was nothing. Now next week.

    C'mon SNOW!!

Well, my fingers are crossed, but not sure I am seeing much of a progressive pattern developing. Hopefully things change, because we need more than a little here and a little there...we need big dumps!!!! Not that I have been up there in weeks...but coverage sure does look thin!!!!

Tbs & I scoured the flanks of bachelor today. Dilly Dally looked ominous from the chair. One Buick sized boulder blocked passage. Otherwise he was almost going to slay it. Soul 7s were the ski choice for the day.

Dilly Dally Goat Trail is more like it. It will be known as the Trail of Tot's Tears if it doesn't fill in time for the Xmas horde.

Fortunately the holiday break doesn't start until xmas weekend and it appears the high pressure will be gone and some solid snow should be filling in the hill properly. They announced cloudchaser opening on the 21st so that will help immensely with crowds. In my heart of hearts I am also hoping Outback gets spinning too.

Did not expect it but Sat and Sunday both turned out to be awesome ski days and Timberline. New snow and winter like conditions on Saturday.
Got a late start Sunday and missed most of the mist. Snow was good for sliding and by mid-afternoon it was bright and sunny. Late afternoon was some of the most beautiful light and it transitioned to a beautiful sunset.

Thanks for the update, my (and my wife's) question is, when are conditions going to be worth a 3-hours-each-way drive, for folks who current still have 2-wheeled recreation alternatives to shake out the jonesing (the whole, dry trails in late December thing is ridiculous by the way), and would rather not fight-for-life on the WROD or skin up just to scrape down windjack and crust?

Hmmm how much is a 3 hour drive worth? IMO it hasn't been a WROD for a long time (fall 2016). But I'm including Palmer here which was fat and worth it on Labor day. BTW I drive aprox 80 each way to hood. If you didn't have another passion you'd rather spend your time on I'd say it's been totally worth driving for all fall. Been trying to convince my buddy to drive up from Eugene but he's only come up once. Think he is depressed or stressed or something though and it's been affecting his judgement though because he hasn't been riding his bike either.
