That grill is too clean...
ha... It's typically filthy. I actually spent about 2 hours detailing it before starting the turkey because I couldn't afford to have the fire go out or to have a sooty bird.
I missed this view:
We were mentally prepared for just accelerator, but as we were about to get on our first ride up, the cheering began. Headed straight to Skyliner! Groom was not ideal. Off groom was even less than ideal. That said, so good to make turns.
The little guy was actually excited to get there, and very positive about skiing. Even my wifes attempt at yelling at him to get forward in a pissed off voice did not spoil the day! I told her to go takes some runs, I got this!!! We had a great time and was able to focus on some weight forward exercises. I THINK he's ready to have mean old Jonesy give him a tip or two, and it's POSSIBLE, he will listen!
Coverage was not terrible on the runs. 21 inches of solid ice. It was especially nice where they ran the old groomer up and down the run with out the tiller in the back. Those wet tracks froze solid. Olympian to west village getback to Pine was a teeth rattling affair!! It goes without saying...more snow will be welcome.
FKNA, love going to the mountain! I hope to run into many of you this year!
Thanks for the conditions report puma. I'll be up Saturday if your around.

Oh he got schooled today. :-) Fun ski day with soft groomers & mild temps. Come on down Alpental crew.
Since it’s raining, I figured I’d wax the quiver

You alright? Hopefully just your bike is all that's too banged up.
When I was getting near the 1:10 mark, one of the omrra guys followed me for a lap and said, basically, "you're getting close to your first big crash because you're trying to go faster than your technique will allow."
Next session my buddy (who had much better technique than me) broke his hip after a turn 1 high side. Between that wake up call and having a kid on the way, no more track days.

Tline went down till friday. Bachelor is getting snow so that's a good thing. It been a rough start. Good to hear little puma is stepping up. He'll be a ripper in no time. See you folks next trip.
Bachelor was thin and only 3 lifts open but it was damn good skiing. Sun, snowing, cold, 4" new with an ice base, no lines. Trenching the groom, feel the burn.
Any Bend folks have conditions beta/advice on xc ski spots? Coming down next Saturday from HR and want to take our little girl (6mo) out for the first time in the backpack. We've been doing a lot of hiking with her to get her used to the pack, but haven't gotten out on classic skis yet. Looking for somethimg that isnt too steep, and ideally free since I'm not sure how lomg she will hang in there. Thanks in advance
At the risk of increasing tourist driven crowds...

Charity Ski Week
Mt. Bachelor launched its Charity Week program in 2008. Since its inception, Mt. Bachelor has donated $625,000 in cash to Bend and Central Oregon area non-profit organizations aligned with our community values of supporting kids and families in need, student athlete academic achievement through the discipline of competitive alpine and Nordic skiing and snowboarding, and environmentally sustainable practices.
For 2017-18, skiers and snowboarders can buy Mt. Bachelor lift tickets for $43, which are valid to use during select midweek periods in January and April. A total of 1,163 tickets will be available to buy on a first-sold, first-served basis. Mt. Bachelor will donate 100% of the cash collected, totaling $50,000, to participating non-profit organizations in Central Oregon. The specific list of beneficiaries will be announced in October or November.
Charity Week ticket sales will end once all tickets are sold, or December 22, 2018, whichever occurs first.
This season, the $43 Charity Week lift tickets will be valid to use:
January 8, 2018 - January 12, 2018 (Monday-Friday)
January 16, 2018 - January 19, 2018 (Tuesday-Friday)
April 16, 2018 - April 20, 2018 (Monday-Friday)
April 23, 2018 - April 27, 2018 (Monday-Friday)
Thankfully, yes. The gear did it's job.
I'd argue that track days are much safer than any road riding you will ever do for a number of reasons. One of them, as you experienced, is expert teaching readily available. If I'd hazard a guess, you were probably ripe for a low-side with either not enough body position or dynamiting the brakes too much or too late.
This, after 165mph. I walked away with a small bit of road rash on the arm and a seriously bruised back-side.
But, I digress...
i believe the wheels work better when round.
