You stupid fool. It's also used for kidney issues which I have. Look it up. Know your facts before getting all uppity
Again until you have tried how the fuck do you know.

They removed from Ontario market because Big Phamra want people to use their poison rather than take something they can't patent. I can't believe some the "educated" puppets that believe all the propaganda.

Just curious what specific products bigPharma is pushing on us to cure food poisoning or hangovers - if you can name any. I'm not defending pharmaceutical companies - just want you to finish your argument - you say they have removed charcoal from the Ontario market...so what sort of products are they hoping will sell instead.

and what propaganda are you suggesting people are believing?

Anyone who is serious about drinking knows that the only cure for a hangover is more drinking.

Or proper hydration, a good meal and a decent night's sleep.

I also think there's a genetic aspect. Some people seem to recover better than others. Or maybe it's practice.

Either way, I know a few of you have been hung over longer than I've been alive, and if activated charcoal was a thing this thread wouldn't exist.

    Paging Mr. Hemmingway...

The only caveat is too much will strip your body of vital minerals.

Sorry. I was more so defending the food poisoning aspect use of AC and that it does help remove toxins. As for products such as Pepto - Imodium etc AC replaces the need for those and then some. I originally used to to help clean my kidneys (I read it a medical book in my Doctors office) and found it to help settle my stomach as well. It was a desperate move when I gave to my Dad and we couldn't believe how well it worked and how fast. I have used it myself when I have had food poisoning or gut rot and bingo I was a believer.

As for a hangover I know it's really about dehydration but an AC pill could aid in recovering quickly with helping the gut rot issues some people get.

I know its hard to believe something that simple can work so well in food poisoning but it does. Would I say not to go to a hospital...NEVER. That would be stupid. We still brought my Dad to the hospital and it was the under cooked chicken that messed him up.

Hope it helps clarify my stance?

    21st Century
Today, charcoal is rated Category 1, “safe and effective”, by the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for acute toxic poisoning. It is also listed in the U.S. homeopathic pharmacopoeia as having “marked absorptive power of gases”. A 1981 study, reported in Prevention magazine, confirmed what Native Americans have known for hundreds of years. Activated charcoal cuts down on the amount of gas produced by beans and other gas-producing foods, and adsorbs the excess gas as well as the bacteria that form the gas. Brand name, over-the-counter drugs may be more commonly used for gas because of their attractive packaging and commercial value, but they are certainly not as effective.

Old charcoal remedies are repackaged today in glistening instruments and catchy packages, but the charcoal inside is still its same humble self - still unpretentious, still black, still dusty and messy to use, still relatively cheap, still ridiculed if not ignored, still largely un-thanked. But in hundreds if not thousands of ways charcoal touches our lives every day though we would scarcely know it. Crafted by the Creator's hands, its history resurrected from the burial sands of ancient Egypt, charcoal is one of the single greatest benefactors to the human race.

From the dawn of civilization, man has had an intimate relationship with charcoal. As an indispensable tool of technology and as a medicinal, charcoal is used in numerous ways to make our lives more healthy. It purifies the water we drink, the air we breathe, and detoxifies the soil we grow our food in. As a medicinal, charcoal is used in virtually every hospital in the world on a daily basis, as it plays an increasingly significant role in maintaining, restoring and enhancing man’s level of health. From drug and food poisoning, to kidney and liver dialysis machines, to wound dressings, to anemia of cancer, and much more, modern hospitals depend on the many uses of this most simple of remedies. These same benefits are also available to you. “In a world being poisoned by its own near-sighted wisdom, God has provided man with a microscopic black hole big enough to swallow much of what ails us.”

Just use the old remedy you used back in the day. Stop by my place, I'll start an IV on you and hang some Lactated Ringers solution, fall back asleep for an hour and you're good for breakfast.

It's already been pointed out that activated charcoal is part of poison control protocol for ingested poisons. It works by binding to the poison and it can only do that if the poison is still in the stomach.

    Yes
I've been to the hospital many times for kidney stones, bladder infections and inflamed prostate.
For all the antibiotics and crap I've gone through in the past 3 years has made me lose hope until I slowly stop taking all the meds they gave me save for one and started with natural things. Doing much better.

I've explained enough and rather than continue to preach to the choir I'll stop. No use in getting provoked when I know I'm right.
    Have a nice day.
