    accident in LCC info needed

    Hey Y'all,
Yesterday when Dad & I were coming down from Alta/Snowbird there was a paramedic from the Snowbird station that screamed past us to respond to a "went off the road" accident above Tanners.
AS we continued down another paramedic, a hook and ladder trucj\k, an ambulance, a sherriff, ANOTHER hook and ladder, another Sherriff, all came screamin up canyon w/lifgts and sirens.
    anyone know what happened?

guess it's a crappy time for the Baron to be on vaca, eh?

Don't remember seeing anything on the news about it last night, and we watched 3 different channels to see the coverage of the lost boy scout in the Uintas.

no news is good news probably. I watched the news last night (yea, looking for info on that scout) and it seemed that the first 10 stories were all death related. Since the accident didn't make the news, it probably ended in life rather than death, which is a good thing.

Brennan, who had not yet graduated from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts, was a visitor at the camp with a friend, whose father was volunteering at a three-day session for 1,400 older scouts.

besides the big possibility of the dangerous rushing water up that way, I personally find it just a BIT too eerie that its 15 miles away from where the other scout kid, about the same age disappeared last fall.

Get used to it, once you've lived here a while you'll notice this type of stuff happens commonly. Getting lost, drowned, dying of thirst, molested, buried by avalanches, and other such maladies are typical scenarios. There is no way I'm letting my son have anything to do with scouting out here.

We were up there this weekend and were staying about 3 miles from the boy scout camp. We took the 4 wheelers Sunday morning up onto a ridge that overlooks the scout camp. The bear river is running wild, I hope that river didn't get him . It's pretty eerie riding trail up there and trying to keep your eyes open for an 11 year old boy that is lost. Unfortunately we were also present up there last year when Garret went missing. We were camping about 5 miles from their camp and didn't know about it until Sunday on the way home when we drove past the command center for SAR.
I also don't know if I want my son involved with scouts. I love the stuff it teaches you but in Utah it seems the LDS church has way to close a grip on things.

Scouts in Utah isn't all bad. You just need to look beyond your local ward for a good troop.

True. I haven't had to make the decision yet since my son is three.

Man, I dunno how your boy scout troop was, but in my troop I got badges like basket weaving, whittling, kite flying, oh, and how much grown men like to build pinewood derby cars. Our den mother was pretty well liked among the single fathers, if ya know what I mean.

Then again, if I ran a den, I'd teach kids important skills like:
    - How not blow your hand up with firecrackers smuggled in from Ohio
    - The proper way to roll a spliff
    - How to make a "safe" sparkler bomb
    - How to open daddy's beer while he's building your "pinewood" derby car out of carbon fiber, so he can beat the sunuvabitch who stole YOUR lane last year.

Yeah baby! My dad's still got the city wide trophy I won back then. Pinewood derby rules when you win!

I haven't seen it personally, but a friend was telling me how apparently the two kids look eerily alike as well.

    Creepy.

Yeah I agree I wouldn't let my son do scouts. Partially because of stuff like that but mostly because outdoors should be father-son bonding time.

I'll never put my kids in scouts, knowing how many sick fucks flock to scouts to molest kids.

FYI, Brendan actually was not a scout, he is too young. His dad had brought him up because he was volunteering at the scout camp. From his dad's statements today, Brendan was taught to stay in open places if he got lost, along with other safety protocol.

Kinda like it's good to donate some time to help kids out but when you start giving a little to much time it gets a little creepy.

The BTK killer of Kansas was a scout leader to I do beleive.
