What kind of Baby were you?

C'mon, you've heard about it. Come clean.

I, as you would expect from a person of my caliber, was apparently a great baby. "Angelic", "engaged" and "happy" are perhaps the most common terms used when the old ladies talk.

I bet most of you fuckers had colic.

I was probably a squalling shit smearing nightmare.

But evidently I have history on my side which somehow gilds so many events with some other more endearing behaviors.

The cohesion of my family was pretty flimsy compared with those extended Irish families though, so I really don't have enough data.

Oh I've had data. Most of the reporters are long dead but I've heard it all my life. Now the old ladies are really fucking old and they're a bit dismayed. "You were such a beautiful infant," they say, "what happened?"

Exceptionally well behaved, happy, and affectionate.

All of which went to shit somewhere around age 16 where I became an insufferable teenager.

The pattern reverted to normal when I left for undergrad.

    I can provide references.

When I was well into my teens I was shown the fine Irish lace garments in which I was baptized. They must still exist somewhere. Not that I'm looking.

A beautiful baby with amazing skin who loved beans and once pooped in the bath tub. Only to be outdone by my cousin who, while being held by our grandmother sans diaper, pooped into the pocket of her cardigan.

What kind of Baby were you?

My earliest memory is laying in a crib naked and peeing straight up in the air. I remember being impressed by how high my pee went. I wish I had that kind of flow now. #flowmax

See this is the advantage or disadvantage of being from a large family. I'm insulated from all that shit since all I got was the usual rosy plapp about my babyhood from mom.

Sometime around age 3 or so she did have enough, pack up her bags, inform me that she's wished she'd never been a mom and left. So I do wonder about all the cutesie stories.

I was the model infant and toddler. But I was also my mom's 1st, so take that for what it's worth. According to my younger sisters, I was the privileged one, but they made a lifestyle of going against the grain.

Well we had 7 kids in 7 years in my family. 2 sets of twins sped that up but it was still insane. And my mom had terminal post-partun depression and my dad was a psychiatrist who could prescribe her any drug he felt like while also never coming home from work.

    so it was interesting.

But when I was a tyke, it hadn't gone completely haywire yet, and some of the folks from that era are still around. They're mostly just a bit confused about how everything came down and so am I so it's cool, we talk about the old days before it all went crazy.

I was a royal pain in the ass. I still am. It did not get better with age.

We had a dad work dysfunction as well. Mom mostly self medicated with alcohol. My one brother had aspergers. But we were very, very isolated. And now dad and bro are dead and mom is deep in demensia.

That's cool; I'm a little jealous except I just got back from a 70 person family reunion for my wifes family in Norway where a language barrier made for cheep entertainment.

It would seem that I was something of a troublesome dick from the get-go. Here's a pic of me and my mom:

Your thread made me curious so I checked in my baby book to see what mom said and what has or hasn't changed:

"Likes the radio on and sings to it."- Early signs of ADDHD
First accident- " 6 mos. Pulled radio off the fridge onto head" - See above
    First Sentence- "Oh baby doll"
"Much prefers to play with girls than boys" Explains dad buying me gun for Christmas at 24 mos.
"Got 4th place in a beautiful baby contest. There were 25 winners an I got a framed picture." The others got a set of steak knives?
Cute and Amusing Tricks" Tying or handcuffing anything -people, furniture." I'll just leave that here.

BTW, Ice. I offered a drunk homeless guy a ride today and took him to his friends house. I asked him his name and he looked down and mumbled some nickname but said he hated it. I asked what he wanted to be called and he said "Friend" So I did. Yin/Yang. Bad Karma in one place makes room for good karma in another. I try thinking that when i flip off some idiot.

    She looks young too.

Like my mom, who was in her early 20s and probably not quite ready or prepared for her carefree youth to end.

No this was Maryland road rage. A full two steps down from Quebec road rage.
