Wayne's is definitely some of the best I've had (ribs and brisket for sure).

Nothing wrong with living in Longmont but I much prefer the surrounding L towns (Louisville, Lafayette, Lyons)

It's amazing to see the amount of development in Lafayette and L'ville though... those fuckers are building on every square foot of land possible. Lyons, on the other hand- that would be sweet, and it's a super easy "commute" to Longmont.

If skiing resorts didn't matter to me, Lyons would be awesome.

Longmont breweries are good in my experience. Big fan of Grossenbart. Nice little farmers market. Not a bad little old commerical area downtown too.
Aye. The beers flow like wine up here. Wibby is my new go to spot, GA boys is right around the corner and their brews are all spot on (check the double dunkel) . Let's not get carried away with the talk of Whole foods, they have "been" there for a year now but got put on hold due to budgetary constraints (they will open soon enough).

    My recommendations:
Dirt cheap Mexican food - Tacos Don Jose
    Indian food - Everest
    Coffee - Ziggis
Grocery - Lucky's(I'm biased, my sister works in their corporate so 10%off)
Pizza - Lucky's market or Nicolos (Lucky's runs a hell of a pie deal on fridays)

I've been here around 6 years now, which is kinda crazy to me. Was in Ft. Fun for a lot of years before here. I'm a short walk downhill to Left Hand and the greenway. It can be very bike friendly especially depending on where you live and work. We've seen the town really improve. Always knew it had potential, the bones were there. Glad we bought when we did. Wife and I both used to commute into Boulder (BOLT some days), but I work in town now.

Dining/drinking options continue to get better. There wasn't a whole lot of choices when we first moved here. As homebrewd mentioned, Wibby is great. I think they might be making the best beer in town right now. I also fucking love Longs Peak Pub (Mtn Sun). That place is a huge welcome addition to downtown, along w/ the Roost, Samples, Rosalee's. Mexican joints galore - Benny's, Tacos al Molcajete, Las Palmeras Taqueria on Francis ($2.50 breakfast burritos that crush Santiago's!), Tavo's Corner, La Panda (yes it's Mexican), Marco's, etc.

Bootstrap is opening a bigger facility in the old Times Call warehouse. I've heard Odd13 is doing some barrel age project in Prospect. Heard Georgia Boys is moving into a bigger spot across 3rd and is going to start brewing their own stuff too. There's a few distilleries about town too. Shoes & Brews is a funky little spot with an all CO tap list that is constantly changing and right down the bike path from LH.

Good access to RMNP/IPWA. Mountain biking options not far in Lyons and points further west. Great road riding options especially west of town. I pretty much chase fish with any free time I get and there's plenty of opportunities nearby.

I do hope the music scene gets better. Still gotta go into Boulder/Denver for that. We go up to FC quite a lot to see friends, etc.

    tl;dr
We like it. It works for us. Let's grab a beer when you're up here. You too homebrewd. I'll shoot a PM.

15 years here. How time flies. Used to be in the North West, now I'm out east in no mans land between Longmont and Firestone. Agreed though, it's turned into a decent town. Let me know when you guys grab that beer!

    It's a Colorado-based chain.

Missed this before.....compared to Big 5 and Dicks those places our outdoor goods Meccas. I'd be willing to bet you can't even buy ski wax let alone Ptex in Longmont.

The sporting goods asile in Walmart is pretty good though, and we do have not one but two of em.

I moved to Longmont about a year ago, and have been happy with that choice so far. I won't stay forever, but it's a good compromise between urban infrastructure and proximity to mountains. Nightlife/live music scene is pretty weak, but jeez it's only 15 miles to Boulder and 35 miles to Denver. I'm coming from San Francisco, so I'm thrilled at the cleanliness, ample parking, affordability, peace, and quiet. After some deliberation, I decided NOT to open my new restaurant here in town, but rather in Boulder, so I guess that sums it up - a quiet, pretty, peaceful spot with no remarkable characteristics, except being conveniently located near other towns/cities, skiing, mountain biking, and climbing. Which was pretty much exactly what I was looking for!

There used to be a great little shop on Hover, next to the Brewing Market (Backcountry Escape). I made a point of buying cams from them. Longmont didn't support them, and alas, they're no more.

That place was sweet, bought there whenever I could. I think he was before his time though, the clientele in Longmont has change a bit since then,
