Hey, I'm a big fan of the Orioles and the inner harbor. I actually don't even remember living there, we moved when I was 1.

I've lived in Boulder for almost 25 years and still love it, though it has certainly changed. Longmont has gotten a lot more interesting as a place to live, with new bars and restaurants. etc. It's cheaper than Boulder for sure but you do have to drive an extra 20/30 mins to get to the I70 resorts. I like Fort Collins too, but North of Longmont or even north end of Longmont adds drive time to everything south (Denver) or west (via I70).

Eldora is no mega resort but it's a good little hill for being 35 mins from town. I'm fortunate to live and work in Boulder so it makes Eldora a good quick afternoon hit any day I want. Most full days you'll probably want to head up to somewhere else.

If you climb that might factor into your choice.

This one fell through, but now I'm looking at a job in Ft Collins. I take it, same scenario? How is Ft Fun and how far from ski areas (both skinable and lift served)? I may be climbing soon, as the leg is healing well.

Ft. Collins = 1,000,000 times cooler than longmont. And about 20 mins further from skiing* no shortage of cool stuff to do right around town though.

Beware: N. longmont is rapidly merging with S. Ft. Collins

Hehe, dredging up my old thread.

Definitely coming out for an interview April 21st and staying the weekend. Any mags up for a beer and skiing, that would be cool. I think a bunch of places close the weekend before that though. My guess here is that Abasin is one of the few still open at that time, no?

Yes Pinner, it IS at Amgen this time. Would you like to know which dept and title? I'll bring some NJ Taylor Ham and Tastycakes for ya....

What position are you interviewing for at Amgen? I used to work for a company that rivaled Amgen. In fact, I had to sign a contract that said if I worked for Sievers-Ionics, I couldn't work for Amgen for... 5 years, I think it was.

I live not far from Longmont in another L-town, Lafayette. May be able to meet ya for drinks Thursday...

i'm not a fan of Longmont. I live just east of boulder and have to go up there for business sometimes and I dread it every time. I prefer to stick around the Boulder/NW Denver area.

Don't be hating on Longmont. It's not all that bad.

Mtn. Man, I may be down for a beer or two if I'm around later on next week. Hit me up with your phone number.

I'm one of those pain in the arse QA guys who takes care of the millions of documents that keep us from getting shut down by the FDA or killing anyone. It's more of a compliance job than being on the manufacturing line. We'll see how it goes.

I'll have more details after tonight or tomorrow when I make the flight and hotel plans. I'm not sure how early I'll arrive Thursday, maybe I'll just take Thur and Friday off and come out earlier.

What's the major consensus for skiing on Sat? Abasin, closing weekend at Vail or Keystone, Loveland? Would love to ski with a few locals and talk about the area!

Iskbc, I'll PM my cell to ya!

    Thanks again for the info!

Beaver Creek and Keystone close this weekend, not Vail. I have not clue where I will be. Looks like some snow for Friday night, so that might change things.

Sounds like there's a few people here that live east of Boulder... I'm out in Erie, and I moved here from Indian Peaks in Lafayette. The location is nice... 15 minutes to downtown Denver and Boulder (and less to Longmont, too). The area is developing nicely and there's not much traffic.

Man, you are a different breed than me. I'm one of those people that generates those millions of pages of documentation and it absolutely drives me out of my mind. The funny thing is most of the documentation for FDA submittal is bullshit. The philosophy is if the document is big enough, then you've probably performed your due diligence.

Dude, unless I missing something, it looks like Amgen is between Boulder and Longmont, which should make it quite a bit easier to contemplate your options.

Tons of other data (like where the resorts are) here:

I have a number of buddies who work for Amgen.

As for skiing, Saturday the 22nd is the Corn Harvest at Loveland. A big party that is a benefit for the Colorado Avalanche Info Center. 50 bucks buys you a lift ticket, food, and beer, and a chance to score some shwag.

Any beta from your friends on how it is to work there?

I may have to check out this Corn Harvest. Beer, food, and skiing corn all for a good cause. You can't go wrong with that!

As for the location of the plant, they told me there's one in Longmont and one in Boulder. I would be in Longmont. From the looks of that map, it looks like the outskirts of Longmont.

Yeah, I used to hate QA people with a passion when I was in manufacturing and QC. Sorta like hating cops when you were a teenager and now you're one of them There's some truth to the "thicker the doc, the less the FDA will bug you". You just have to know the specifics that they look for at that time. Every year they pick on different things during site visits, have to keep up with the trends.

That is also closing weekend at Breck...

    Free Ozomatli Show!

A crew of Boulder and Denverites will be up there for that.

I've only been to Vail for closing weekend a couple years ago, that was pretty cool and laid back. What is the Ozomatli Show at Breck?

Do most people have a pass to Break, is that part of the 5-mtn pass?

Alright, we're all set. Flying in Thursday morning at 1130am. Tour of the area from 2-5pm. Beers with maggots thereafter and where ever, let me know and I'll be there. Friday interview 12-4pm. Skiing where the action is on Sat. Flying out Sunday at noon.

Can't wait to get out there!

Amgen's plant in Longmont is on the west side of town. Probably 5 minutes from downtown Longmont and maybe 20-25 minutes from north Boulder (though the Diagonal Hwy. can suck at rush hour - suck being relative to the rest of Colorado traffic).

You could easily live in Longmont, Boulder, Erie, Lafayette or any number of other places. Getting around is fairly easy.
